Bloom Energy is seeking a Manufacturing Engineering Intern for an on-site role in Newark, DE. The intern will collaborate with engineering teams to enhance manufacturing processes through automation, create standard operating procedures, develop 3D CAD models, and assist in the implementation of Industry 4.0 solutions. Candidates should be pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Engineering with a strong academic record and problem-solving skills.

We are looking for a Manufacturing Automation Engineering Intern to join our team in one of today’s most exciting technologies. This role will report to Senior Manager, Manufacturing Engineering and based in Newark, DE. This is a fully on-site, in office role.

In the role of the Intern, you will work closely with our engineering team to enhance manufacturing processes through automation and the integration of advanced technologies. The role offers hands-on experience in implementing Industry 4.0 solutions to improve operational efficiency and in-process quality metrics.

Key Responsibilities:
• Process Analysis: Collaborate with cross-functional teams to analyze current manufacturing processes and recommend improvements.
• Documentation and Training: Create standard operating procedures (SOPs) and assist in training operators on new equipment and processes.
• 3D CAD Modeling: Develop 3D CAD models for fixtures, tools, and equipment to support manufacturing operations.
• Poka-Yoke Implementation: Identify opportunities for error-proofing (poka-yoke) in manual assembly processes and design creative fixtures to prevent defects.
• IIoT Integration: Assist in the implementation of Industrial Internet of Things (IIoT) solutions to monitor and optimize manufacturing processes.
• MES Deployment: Support the deployment and utilization of the Tulip Manufacturing Execution System (MES) to streamline production workflows.
• Welding Automation: Participate in projects involving welding automation, including programming, testing, and validation of automated welding systems.
• Robotics Integration: Assist in the integration and programming of robotic systems to enhance manufacturing efficiency and precision.

Preferred Qualifications:
• Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s degree, and are successfully maintaining an above average GPA, preferably 3.0 or higher. Preferred Engineering concentration in Mechanical, Mechatronics, Automation or Industrial.
• Proven history of excellence and desire to solve tough problems via creative solutions.
• Strong written and verbal skills; excellent listener and an eagerness to learn and contribute.
• Desire to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment with competing priorities.
• Highly motivated and a self-starter and must demonstrate a bias for action and implementation
• Proficiency in 3D CAD modeling software (e.g., SolidWorks, AutoCAD) with experience in designing fixtures and tools.
• Familiarity with IIoT concepts and experience implementing connected devices in a manufacturing environment.
• Experience with the Tulip MES platform, Quicksight or similar systems is highly desirable.
• Knowledge of error-proofing (poka-yoke) techniques and experience designing fixtures to prevent assembly defects.
• Prior experience with welding automation, including an understanding of welding processes and robotic programming.
• Exposure to Industry 4.0 concepts and their application in manufacturing settings.
• Experience with robotics integration, vision systems, PLC programming.
• This internship is scheduled to begin June 2025 and end approximately August 2025.
• Must be a junior or senior graduating by Summer 2026.
• Authorized to work 40 hours or more each week
