Managing Consultant – Net Zero - Heavy Industry
The Role
Due to significant growth in demand for our corporate GHG accounting, reporting, and emissions reduction services, we are seeking an enthusiastic, experienced individual to join our climate change consultancy team, focusing on the heavy industry sector.
The successful candidate will support ERM’s client organizations on challenges related to energy and climate change, including:
• Accounting of greenhouse gas emissions (scopes 1, 2, and
3), including developing GHG inventories for heavy industry and hard-to-abate sectors aligned with industry best practices.
• Identifying technological and strategic GHG reduction opportunities in company operations and the value chain, integrating these into strategic roadmaps for climate action.
• Reporting climate performance in annual sustainability reports and CDP disclosures.
• Embedding climate change considerations within risk management frameworks and strategic planning.
• Conducting physical climate change and low-carbon transition risk assessments, aligned with TCFD recommendations.
• Building governance capacity from the board to operational levels.
Our role as a consultant is to help clients achieve sustainable development objectives and manage related business risks and opportunities effectively. The team collaborates with ERM’s other practice areas, offering opportunities to work on sustainability strategy, impact assessments, due diligence, EHS performance, and risk management.
Role and
Key Responsibilities
As a Net Zero Managing Consultant, you will assist organizations in achieving net-zero emissions by providing strategic guidance, technical expertise, and innovative solutions. Projects include Net Zero strategy, GHG inventories, and decarbonization strategies. You may act as a key advisor to ERM’s clients, managing projects, leading teams, and delivering proposals and reports.
• Leading analysis of carbon emissions, target setting (SBTi), and developing emissions reduction roadmaps.
• Supporting clients to meet assessment and disclosure requirements.
• Overseeing report and presentation preparation, managing project delivery, and mentoring junior staff.
• Developing proposals for clients across various sectors.
Core Skills Technical Knowledge
• Relevant degree or 5+ years’ experience in environmental consulting or related fields.
• Experience in heavy industry sectors is advantageous.
• Deep knowledge of GHG accounting/reporting principles and schemes (e.g., GHG Protocol, SBTi).
• Understanding of climate legislation, management systems, and economic analysis of GHG reductions.
Technical Skills
• Proficiency in MS Office, especially Excel, with the ability to build complex tools.
• Experience managing large projects and datasets.
• Strong communication and technical writing skills.
