Manager Modeling Services

The Manager of Modeling Services at MISO will lead a team to collect and analyze data for transmission expansion planning and grid operations. This role requires strong leadership and interpersonal skills to mentor staff and translate complex models into actionable insights. The position offers a hybrid work environment, with a salary range of $160,000 - $182,000, and includes benefits such as health insurance and an annual bonus based on performance.
Starting Salary Range: $160,000 - $182,000 - position is also eligible for an annual bonus if individual performance and company objectives are met.

We’re looking for a Manager of Modeling Services to lead a team responsible for collecting and synthesizing data from transmission owners and market participants to build the models that support MISO’s transmission expansion planning, grid operations, and protection systems. You’ll be joining a seasoned, diverse team that plays a critical role in fulfilling MISO’s vision of being the most reliable and value-driven Regional Transmission Organization.

In this role, you’ll guide innovative programs such as guiding Model Management System, Energy Management System, and our Day-Ahead and Real-Time Market Systems that build grid models used by various stakeholders.

But beyond the technical work, you’ll draw on your strong interpersonal skills and proven leadership experience to translate complex models into clear, impactful insights—all while actively mentoring, developing, and empowering others to grow in their careers and reach their full potential.

Within your first year as Manager of Modeling Services, you’ll know you’re succeeding when:
• You’ve earned the respect and trust of your team and stakeholders by deeply understanding the needs of end users and continuously improving the portion of MISO’s models your team supports.
• You have a clear understanding of how your team’s models influence and support dozens of other departments across MISO—and how those teams rely on your work.
• You’ve confidently embraced leading a geographically distributed team, fostering collaboration and connection even in a remote work environment.
• You consistently and objectively assess model quality, ensuring the outputs meet high standards and are valued by those who depend on them.
