Job Description

Glencore is seeking a Manager – Health, Safety & Environmental for its eMalahleni location in South Africa. The role involves ensuring compliance with Health, Safety, and Environmental standards, contributing to strategy development, and managing systems. Candidates should have a relevant tertiary qualification and a minimum of 4 years of mining experience. Strong analytical and stakeholder management skills are required. This is a full-time position based on-site.

We are currently accepting applications for the following position located in Witbank, Mpumalanga.

Manager – Health, Safety & Environmental

In this role, you will be responsible for ensuring that Health, Safety and Environmental Management Systems, Processes and Policies are in place and complied with to meet all relevant legal and corporate Health Safety and Environmental requirements.

Key Responsibilities
• Ensuring that Health, Safety and Environmental standards are met as per policies and procedures.
• Contributing to Strategy development and compliance with Health, Safety and Environmental targets at Complex level.
• Managing Health, Safety and Environmental Systems.
• Establishing and maintaining effective communication and engagement channels with the relevant internal and external stakeholders.
• Managing, supporting and utilising people effectively.

Minimum Qualifications:
• A relevant tertiary qualification (NQF Level 7) in Health, Safety, Environment, Mining or Engineering.

Minimum Experience:
• 4 years’ Mining experience at a Superintendent level or 2 years’ experience at D4 level.
• Exposure to all three disciplines in Health Safety and Environment.

Behavioural Competencies:
• Ability to carefully and objectively analyse and evaluate information to inform decisions and key actions
• Ability to adhere to rules and regulations, follow instructions and limit risk of non-compliance to the business.
• Ability to initiate and build long-term trust relations with all stakeholders in the business and to use influence and persuasion to align stakeholders and obtain commitment to action and decisions.
• Ability to inspire and foster commitment, pride and trust amongst team members by taking a democratic approach, seeking and valuing contributions and encouraging collaboration.
