Job Description
Gildan is seeking a Manager for Environment, Health, and Safety in Savar, Bangladesh. The role involves ensuring compliance with local laws and internal policies, implementing training programs, conducting audits, and managing safety protocols. Candidates should have a Bachelor's degree in a relevant field and at least 10 years of experience, with knowledge of ISO standards. The position requires coordinating safety meetings, investigating accidents, and overseeing emergency training.

The opportunity
To ensure internal compliance to local laws, codes of conducts, internal policies, programs, procedures, and job instructions related to Environment, Health, and Safety through the implementation of training programs and execution of audits both internal and external.
The role
• Meet the quality system (GQS) requirements related to his/her job functions.
• Understanding by quality system: Documentation, work method, and internal and external customer expectations related to a process, product, or service.
• To execute and to make sure the dispositions of Environment, Health and Safety are being complied.
• Comply and ensure all ISO 45001 requirements
• Comply and ensure the local and corporate legal requirements related to the Health and Safety
• Coordinate the implement of the risk analysis for all designations.
• Evaluate and select the personal protective equipment for the employees
• Coordinate the monthly meeting of HS committee.
• Update action plans resulting from internal and external audits.
• Participate in compliance audits and ensure the implementation of resultant corrective / preventive action plans.
• Authorize Safety Permits for special activities like hot work, confined space work & work at height procedure
• Investigate job related accidents and ensure the implementation of resultant corrective / preventive action plans.
• Communicate Lost Time Accidents to the legal applicable entities
• Coordinate to obtain legal permits applicable to the facility (Ex, fire license)
• Coordinate the organization and training of the emergency brigades.
• Coordinate the organization of fire evaluation drills as per schedule.
• Report to the Ministry of Labor the activities performed related to safety like accident report, fire drill report and safety equipment’s report
• Follow up inspections of ERT - fire extinguishers and fire fighting system, fire alarms. (Monthly)
• Follow up designs and approvals for FPS & FDS.
• Perform any other operation-related function indicated by immediate supervisor.
The requirement
Knowledge & Professional Experience
• At least Bachelor’s Degree in Environmental Science, Industrial Engineer, Chemical Engineer any other Engineering background from a reputed public or private university with a minimum of 10 years of experience.

• Knowledge of ISO 14001:2015, ISO 45001:2015, ISO 9001:2008
• Understand the Health & safety related internal procedures, policies and format.
• Work based on vendor requirements related to Health and Safety.
• Understand the audit process and implementation of corrective action plans.
• Strong analysis, result oriented and problem-solving skills.
• Good crisis management, self-control and stress management skills.
• Capacity to understand and evaluate priorities and urgencies.
• Good interpersonal and customer service skills with a desire to collaborate with others.
• An open-minded professional with a positive attitude, manner and behavior
• Have the ability to adapt to a changing environment in a professional and impactful way
• Work under pressure and potentially to take on the challenge of performing the job
• Excellent written and oral skills in English.
