Manager – Data Collection & Quality (Regenerative Cotton Project)

Varaha is seeking a Manager for Data Collection & Quality for its Regenerative Cotton Project in Wardha, Maharashtra. The role involves designing data collection protocols, supervising field teams, ensuring data accuracy, and coordinating with various teams. Candidates should have a degree in Agriculture or related fields, with 5+ years of experience in data management for agriculture projects. Proficiency in Marathi, Hindi, and English is required.
We are looking for a detail-oriented professional to lead field data collection, validation, and quality assurance for our regenerative cotton farming project. The role will ensure high-quality agronomic, soil, and socio-economic data to support carbon project design and MRV systems.

Roles and Responsibilities
• Design and implement robust data collection protocols for agronomic, soil, farmer, and farm-level data.
• Lead and supervise field teams, enumerators, and partner organizations for seamless data collection.
• Ensure accuracy, consistency, and completeness of field data through regular audits, checks, and field validations.
• Manage digital and paper-based data collection workflows like ODK
• Coordinate closely with agronomy, carbon, and impact teams to align data needs and timelines.
• Train field staff and enumerators on data collection tools, protocols, and quality control measures.
• Prepare data quality reports and contribute to project documentation and MRV frameworks.

Qualifications
• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Agriculture, Rural Development, Data Management, or related fields.
• 5+ years of experience in managing data collection and quality for agriculture, sustainability, or rural development projects.
• Hands-on experience with digital data collection tools (ODK, KoboToolbox, etc.).
• Strong knowledge of field data management, cleaning, and validation processes.
• Comfortable working in rural field settings with diverse stakeholders.
• Proficiency in Marathi, Hindi, and English.

Preferred
• Prior experience working on cotton, regenerative agriculture, or carbon farming projects.
• Familiarity with MRV systems and carbon project data requirements.
• Ability to analyze data using Excel. Knowledge of R or Python is a plus
