Job Description

The City of Melbourne is seeking a Manager for Climate Innovation and Networks to lead initiatives aimed at achieving zero emissions by 2040. This permanent, full-time position offers a salary of $140,947 plus benefits. The role involves leading a team, developing climate action strategies, and collaborating with various stakeholders. As the Manager of Climate Innovation and Networks, you'll play a crucial role in helping the Council achieve its ambitious climate action goals, including reaching zero emissions by 2040 and building a resilient, climate adapted city. Leading a dynamic team, you'll be at the forefront of developing innovative climate action initiatives, and co-leading integrated climate planning.

You’ll coordinate our connection to communities on climate action in partnership with the team and organisation. You'll collaborate across the Branch, organisation, and with local and international partners to build strong relationships that integrate climate action and the Sustainable Development Goals into all aspects of the Council’s work.

What You Will Bring...(selection Criteria)
• Proven ability to lead a team to high performance, develop team skills and cohesion, and manage conflict and underperformance effectively.
• Appropriate tertiary qualification and/or experience in strategy, public policy, communications, environment, sustainability and partnerships.
• An innovative approach to problem solving
• Very strong oral communication skills including presentation skills and the ability to communicate technical information with a broad range of stakeholders
• Proven ability to build strong networks and partnerships and navigate political complexities with multiple stakeholders.
• Experience in developing and delivering innovative and practical climate initiatives, policy and programs
