Job Description

West Environmental Ltd. is seeking a Manager of Business Development in Saskatoon, SK. This role involves developing and executing the Saskatchewan sales strategy, managing client relationships, overseeing the sales cycle, and mentoring team members. The ideal candidate has 10-15 years of experience in business development, preferably in environmental sectors, and possesses strong leadership and analytical skills.

KEY OPPORTUNITIES & CHALLENGES

Reporting to the Vice-President, Corporate Development, the Manager of Business Development is responsible for the development and execution of the company’s Saskatchewan sales and business development strategy. The Manager, Business Development will also act as the Branch Manager and is responsible for leveraging new and existing business relationships with clients in order to attract new revenue streams for the company.
- Managing the business development strategic planning process, providing thought leadership, quantitative and qualitative analysis, recommendations, and materials preparation
- Identifying, evaluating, and conducting follow-up on sales leads and opportunities within revenue targets through company telemarketing, marketing, and internet activities
- Representing the organization in various functions like conferences, seminars, and other events to create awareness about organization products and services, generating potential leads
- Developing and nurturing relationships with various key strategic individuals like local leaders, key industry players, and strategic supplies and financing organizations
- Overseeing and implementing the full sales cycle which involves market research, market analysis, pitching to various prospects, and client retention
- Tracking and reporting on the various marketing strategies to improve on the winning strategies, adjusting the ineffective strategies, and implementing new strategies when necessary
- Establishing the sales metrics and goals for direct reports within the business development team
- Planning, organizing and supervising the work related to any new initiative, assessing progress, analyzing results obtained and recommending adjustments as required to achieve objectives
- Interviewing, hiring, training and mentoring direct reports
- Providing regular performance updates to the senior leadership team
- Duties associated with Acting Branch Manager
- Other duties as assigned
QUALIFICATIONS*
- 10-15 years’ experience in a Business Development role
- A background in environmental, mining, forestry, industrial is a definite asset
- Bachelor’s degree in business or a related field
- Significant experience in leading teams to execute all aspects of business development
- Ability to handle projects with multiple workstreams, with proven leadership success over a wide variety of functional business problems
- Analytical problem-solving skills with impeccable attention to detail
- Ability to set overall strategy and drive process improvement
- Strong organizational and time-management skills
- Ability to adapt to changing environments
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Strong interpersonal skills with ability to collaborate and build a consensus in a high-pressure environment
