Cedars-Sinai is seeking a full-time Business Continuity Manager in Los Angeles, CA, to lead business continuity efforts in the Radiation & Environmental Health department. Responsibilities include developing and implementing emergency management programs, collaborating with various agencies, and overseeing continuity drills. The role requires leadership in ensuring the healthcare system's resilience during disruptions, with a focus on patient safety and operational efficiency. This is an onsite position with some on-call duties.

As a full time Business Continuity Manager at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles, California, you will lead all aspects of business continuity in our Radiation & Environmental Health & Safety department and disaster recovery programs across the organization, including hospitals, clinics, research, educational, and administrative functions. This includes planning, developing, implementing, and testing of the business continuity emergency management programs. The manager will work closely with leadership, clinical and non-clinical departments, and external partners to ensure the healthcare system's resilience in the face of disruptions and emergencies.
Oversees and collaborates with community, city, county, state, and federal agencies involved with continuity planning and disaster response, such as FEMA, Red Cross, local Police, Fire and EMS departments, and others.
Days/Hours: Day shift, Monday - Friday, onsite role. Does include oncall rotation 3-5x a year.
What's this role all about?
• Provides leadership and direction to the business continuity team, ensuring the development of staff and the effective execution of departmental goals.
• Oversees the creation, implementation, and maintenance of business continuity plans for the healthcare system, including clinical care, administrative, research, and other service line departments
• Manages and assembles high-level risk assessments and business impact analyses to identify critical functions, dependencies, and vulnerabilities within the healthcare system. Manages the development and updates to business continuity interdependency language for common services, such as lab, imaging, pharmacy, information technology, and other areas.
• Manages and leads the coordination and execution of complex continuity drills and disaster recovery exercises at the departmental and organizational level. Monitors and evaluate the effectiveness of business continuity programs, using data-driven insights to recommend and implement continuous improvements.
• Analyzes metric tracking on business continuity plans, drill, and exercises in order advise on improvements. Conducts after-action reports on emergency and business continuity drills and exercises. Develops formal written after-action reports.
• Manages the development and training on business continuity and recovery.
• Serves as the primary point of contact for business continuity during crises, leading the response and recovery efforts to minimize operational disruptions and ensure patient safety. Strategic advisor to executive leadership on matters related to organizational resilience, risk management, and emergency preparedness.
• Coordinates and collaborates in planning, developing and implementation of the emergency management/disaster response programs, such as mass decontamination and mass causality. Assists in maintaining the emergency mass-notification system, including customizations to facilitate business continuity.
• Coordinates and liaison with community, city, county, state, and federal agencies involved with disaster response and continuity, such as FEMA, Red Cross, local public safety, police, fire and emergency medical services departments, vendors, non-governmental organizations, and others.
• Responsible for the design, implementation, and presentation of management and employee preparedness programs.
• Oversees, in collaboration with the Director, the coordination of efforts for Department of Health Services, Center for Medicare and Medicaid Services, and The Joint Commission accreditation as it relates to emergency management and business continuity planning.
Qualifications
Education Requirements:
• Bachelor's Degree - Emergency Management, Safety, Healthcare, or other related field.
• Master's Degree - Emergency management, business continuity, safety, health sciences, or related field.
Licenses/Certifications:
• Incident Command System Training is required
• Hospital Incident Command System (HICS) training with Incident Action Planning -preferred
• Incident Command System Training (IS - 300, 400) - preferred
• Certificate in business continuity or emergency management such as Certified Business Continuity Professional (CBCP), Associate Business Continuity Professional (ABCP), Healthcare Business Continuity Management (HBCB), Certified Emergency Manager (CEM) or Associate Emergency Manager - preferred
• CA drivers license is required
What else are we looking for?
• 5 experience with comprehensive Emergency Management, Business Continuity, Risk Management, or Continuity of Operations Planning, preferably in a healthcare setting
