About the position

The Major Gifts & Sustainability Officer is responsible for developing strategies for cultivating, soliciting, and stewarding donors, with a special focus on Covenant House Alaska's direct mail donors and planned giving programs. This role involves co-managing the annual Sleep-Out event to engage current and new donors, significantly impacting the department's reputation and financial performance in the mission to end youth homelessness. The officer will collaborate with Covenant House International's Development Team and oversee a portfolio of 150-200 donors and prospects.

Responsibilities
• Develop strategies for donor cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship.

• Co-manage the annual Sleep-Out event with the Communications & Sustainability Officer.

• Oversee a portfolio of 150-200 donors and prospects.

• Create and execute a plan for donor cultivation and stewardship based on annual KPIs.

• Build and maintain relationships with donors, encouraging estate planning contributions.
,
• Ensure donor information is accurately recorded in CHA's and CHI's databases.
,
• Attend community and CHA events outside of regular business hours.
,
• Participate in fundraising seminars and trainings relevant to the position.

• Collaborate with CHA & CHI Development Teams to enhance fundraising opportunities.
,
• Provide special event support and assist during events from start to finish.

Requirements
• Bachelor's degree in communications, commerce, marketing, administration, or related areas.

• Minimum three years of fundraising or sales experience with a proven track record of raising major gift funds.
,
• Strong ability to relate effectively with diverse staff, youth, and community agencies.
,
• Outstanding oral and verbal communication skills with well-honed relationship building skills.
,
• Ability to navigate and manage multiple projects consistently.

• Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, Raiser's Edge, DonorDrive, SharePoint, Every Action, and other software platforms.

Nice-to-haves
• Experience in major gift fundraising and donor cultivation programs.
