One Tree Planted is seeking a Major Gifts Officer to manage relationships with Major Gift donors contributing $25,000 and above. About the position

One Tree Planted is a US-based 501(c)(3) non-profit organization dedicated to global reforestation efforts. As an environmental charity, our mission is to facilitate contributions from individuals and businesses to enhance the environment, promote a healthier climate, protect biodiversity, and support reforestation initiatives worldwide through tree planting. We are currently seeking a Philanthropy Officer - Major Gifts who will play a crucial role in cultivating and managing relationships with Major Gift donors, specifically those capable of contributing $25,000 and above. This position is vital for advancing our mission and programs through effective stewardship and tailored solicitation strategies. The Philanthropy Officer will manage a portfolio of approximately 150-200 Major Donors, focusing on cultivating, renewing, and upgrading their contributions to foster long-term relationships. This role requires arranging and attending in-person meetings with donors and prospects, which may involve travel up to 25% of the time. The officer will also be responsible for researching and identifying potential Major Gift prospects, utilizing various tools and platforms to enhance donor engagement. Additionally, the officer will oversee the ongoing evaluation of prospects' capacity and readiness to give, ensuring that all donor communications are well-crafted and personalized. Collaboration is key in this role, as the Philanthropy Officer will work closely with the Marketing and Communications team to create compelling donor communications, including solicitation proposals and acknowledgments. The officer will also track and report on progress towards annual Major Gift goals, adjusting strategies as necessary to meet targets. Maintaining accurate records in Salesforce CRM is essential for effective donor management and communication. The position also involves attending events and conferences to promote the organization and its mission, as well as participating in internal meetings to align with the development team and organizational leadership.

Responsibilities
• Manage an assigned portfolio of approximately 150-200 Major Donors capable of giving at the $25k and up level.

• Arrange and attend in-person meetings with donors and prospects for Executive Leadership.
,
• Research and identify Major Gift prospects within the existing donor base and outside.
,
• Oversee the ongoing identification, monitoring, and evaluation of a prospect's capacity level and readiness to give.
,
• Create and edit donor communications including solicitation proposals, meeting requests, and follow-ups.
,
• Maintain complete and orderly records of donors in the Salesforce CRM.
,
• Ensure appropriate stewardship of all donors in your pipeline, including customized recognition strategies.
,
• Attend events and conferences as assigned to promote the organization.
,
• Work with the Director, Philanthropy to understand funding priorities and align with potential donors.
,
• Collaborate with the development team to set annual Major Gift goals and develop plans to achieve them.
,
• Track and report on progress towards goals, adjusting strategies as needed.
,
• Collaborate with other teams to support the development of compelling campaigns and giving opportunities.
,
• Maintain accurate donor records in Salesforce and track donor interaction history.
,
• Participate in development/team meetings and weekly Philanthropy team meetings.

Requirements
• Bachelor's degree or acceptable combination of equivalent experience.

• Minimum three years of experience in fundraising or non-profit donor-facing roles.
,
• Proven success in developing donor relationships from identification to stewardship.
,
• Experience managing a caseload of active gift prospects and implementing solicitation strategies.
,
• Demonstrated ability to meet deadlines and maintain quality work standards.
,
• Experience using a CRM system; knowledge of Salesforce is a plus.

• Excellent oral and written communication skills.
,
• A passion for the environment.
