Job Description

The Maintenance Technician at Extended Stay America in Rochester Hills, MI is responsible for maintaining property equipment and ensuring cleanliness. Key duties include performing repairs, conducting preventative maintenance, assisting guests, and maintaining safety compliance. About the position

The Maintenance Technician position is crucial in ensuring that all property equipment is functioning optimally and that the premises are maintained in pristine condition. This role requires a strong commitment to providing the best possible experience for guests and associates alike. The technician will be responsible for ensuring that all tasks outlined in the Green Shield Binder, as well as those directed by the management team or Regional Asset Manager, are completed in a timely manner and in accordance with company standards. The technician must demonstrate the ability to work with minimal supervision while performing all essential duties to satisfaction and company standards. Key responsibilities include assisting guests upon request and responding to all guest requests with diligent follow-through in accordance with company guidelines and procedures. The technician will perform out-of-room cleaning as outlined in the Green Shield Binder, ensuring that the premises, including trash containers, building interiors and exteriors, grounds, walkways, stairwells, driveways, and parking areas, are kept clean and orderly. Additionally, the technician will be responsible for performing repairs listed on work orders, conducting preventative maintenance inspections, and maintaining records as outlined within the Green Shield Binder, including Guest Room PM deficiencies and Life Safety Inspections. The role also involves maintaining an organized and clean work area in the maintenance room, managing and safeguarding all maintenance tool inventory, and ensuring that all tools are in good working condition. The technician will ensure that all fire safety equipment is operational and that inspections are current and compliant with company standards and local ordinances. Compliance with all safety and security policies, including OSHA and ADA, is essential. The technician may also assist with cleaning areas of the hotel as assigned and is responsible for maintaining overall hotel cleanliness. Other duties may be requested by the management team as needed.

• Perform out-of-room cleaning as outlined in the Green Shield Binder to ensure premises are maintained in pristine condition.

• Perform repairs listed on work orders and follow the work order process as outlined in the Green Shield Binder.

• Conduct preventative maintenance inspections and repairs as outlined in the Green Shield Binder.

• Follow the Green Shield Inspection schedule on a daily basis to accomplish all tasks in a timely fashion.

• Maintain all records as outlined within the Green Shield Binder, including Guest Room PM deficiencies and Life Safety Inspections.

• Maintain an organized and clean work area in the maintenance room and manage maintenance tool inventory.
,
• Ensure that all fire safety equipment is operational and that inspections are current and compliant with company standards and local ordinances.

• Assist with or handle the response to emergencies at the property or sister location when asked by management.
,
• Monitor and follow up with outside vendors when directed by management.

Requirements
• High School Diploma or General Education Degree (GED); or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

• Ability to read and communicate effectively with guests, associates, and outside vendors.
,
• Ability to understand and follow safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, procedure manuals, and other guidelines and company standards.

• Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
,
• Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.

• Ability to apply good judgment at all times and assist with solving guest issues.
