Southwest Iowa Renewable Energy, LLC is seeking a Maintenance Technician in Council Bluffs, IA. The role involves performing preventive and routine maintenance on machinery, troubleshooting issues, and ensuring operational efficiency at the ethanol facility. Responsibilities include repairing equipment, conducting maintenance checks, welding, and maintaining documentation in CMMS software. Candidates should have a high school diploma or GED, at least 4 years of industrial maintenance experience, and strong mechanical aptitude. On-call duties are required.
Description

As a Maintenance Technician, your skills will be at the forefront of our plant's success. Your work will directly influence the production and efficiency of our state-of-the-art ethanol facility, ensuring we meet our sustainability goals.

Summary

Ensures maintenance of machinery and equipment systems by completing preventive and routine maintenance requirements on pumps, motors, conveyor systems, various tools, and production machines; following diagrams, sketches, operations manuals, manufacturer's instructions, and engineering specifications; troubleshooting malfunctions. This position will be assigned on-call responsibilities.

Essential Responsibilities and Duties
• Trouble-shoot and determine necessary repairs and maintenance.
• Repair and maintain machinery and equipment.
• Perform various preventative maintenance checks and repairs on machinery and equipment.
• Welding with TIG, MIG and SMAW (stick).
• Complete Work Orders and document the time, tasks and parts/supplies needed to complete the Work Order in the CMMS software.
• Specific responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following:
• Greasing and oiling.
• Service of rolling stock and equipment according to service schedule.
• Fabricating.
• Installation and alignment of pumps, motors, reducers, etc.
• Leak detection and repair of piping, flanges, valves, and fittings.
• Repair and maintenance of drag chain, belt, and screw conveyors.
• Safe operation of tools and equipment including scissors lifts, articulating man lifts, and telehandler.
• Rigging & lifting.
• Housekeeping including, but not limited to the cleanliness and orderly organization of electrical work areas, MCC rooms, electrical enclosures, maintenance shop and cleaning up after jobs.
• Maintain updated documentation of all machinery and equipment changes implemented by said individual or contractors hired by the plant.
• Maintain equipment and tools provided by the company.
• Perform required maintenance duties as needed on an on-call basis as scheduled.
• Perform all duties in accordance with safety regulations (LOTO, Confined Space, Fall Protection, Fire Protection).
• Communicate and interface with production department on job specific information.
• Follow company policy regarding inventory control practices.
• Other duties as may be assigned to accomplish the safe and timely day-to-day operations within the plant.
• MAPCON CMMS responsibilities.
• Participate in rotational on-call responsibilities during non-business hours.
• Wear personal protective equipment as required in the particular area of the plant.

Requirements

Qualifications
• Good written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to work well with others and ability to work independently.
• Previous experience with machinery and mechanical equipment.
• Strong history of mechanical aptitude combined with work ethic and growth/adaptability.
• Ability to perform CMMS data entry requirements.
• Basic safety knowledge related to tools and machinery.
• Exemplify the high standards necessary to accomplish the goals of the Company.
• Valid driver’s license required.

Education and Experience
• High School Diploma or GED equivalent required.
• Minimum of 4 years of experience in industrial maintenance required. Equivalent education, or a combination of education and relevant work experience, may be considered to meet this requirement.
• Formal education and/or training including relevant apprenticeship or certification preferred.

Physical Demands
• Ability to lift and/or move up to 50lbs.
• Ability to climb stairs and ladders.
• Ability to work in outside conditions and adverse weather.
• Ability to work at heights up to 250 ft
• Ability to work in confined spaces
• Walking
• Standing

Working Environment
• While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to work near moving mechanical parts.
• The employee is regularly exposed to dusty conditions.
• The employee is regularly exposed to high noise environments.
• The employee is regularly exposed to outside weather in all conditions.
• The employee will regularly be exposed to chemicals used in the process.
