Job Description

GreenWaste is hiring a Maintenance Mechanic I in Marina, CA, to provide maintenance for equipment used in waste collection and processing. Responsibilities include performing preventative maintenance, repairing equipment, and maintaining logs. Candidates should have at least 5 years of experience with heavy equipment, ASE certifications, and a valid commercial driver's license. The position requires physical stamina and teamwork. Work is typically Monday to Friday with some Saturday rotation.

Reports To: Manager/General Manager

Pay: $39-$42/hr.

We are seeking an experienced, successful, and engaged Mechanic I to join our team. This position is expected to work out of our office at 14207 Del Monte Blvd. in Marina and some job-related travel may be required.

Position Summary:

GreenWaste is seeking to fill the position of Mechanic to provide support to one or more facilities. This position is responsible for fixing and maintaining all equipment used in the collection and processing of material. This position is responsible for repairing and operating all equipment efficiently while observing all safety protocols to ensure that operations run smoothly.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities:
• Provide full-service preventative maintenance to Company equipment including trucks, trailer, loaders, forklifts, carts, bins debris boxes and associated equipment
• Ability to read and document paperwork for maintenance, inspections and other work orders. Ability to understand and carry out written and/or oral instructions.
• Maintain an accurate log of all work performed
• Ability to use electric welder and gas/acetylene torch
• Maintain a current and valid commercial driver's license (Class B) and medical certificate
• Adhere to Company procedures, safety protocols and company policies.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
• Ability to work well with other employees in a team environment and communicate to ensure safety
• Ability to follow verbal and written instructions
• Welder certification or experience preferred
• Minimum 5 years' experience working with heavy equipment

Qualifications:
• ASE Certification on electrical, diesel or CNG engines
• ASE Certification on preventative maintenance

Language Skill:
• Proficiency in English and Spanish preferred

Physical Demands:
• Ability to physically push, pull and lift objects up to 75 lbs.
• Constant bending and twisting
• Frequent standing, walking and semi-frequent sitting
• Constant climbing in and out of company truck

Work Environment:

Typical work week is Monday through Friday with a Saturday rotation. Will be exposed to outdoor weather conditions. Ability to work in setting with frequent changes in equipment, start/end time, hours of work (including overtime).
