Job Description
The State of Wisconsin is hiring an LTE Assistant Naturalist Guide for Buckhorn State Park in Necedah, WI, starting in spring 2025. This position involves conducting educational programs, nature hikes, and developing exhibits related to the park's natural and cultural resources. The role offers valuable experience in natural resources careers and pays $15.00 per hour. It is a seasonal position with no guarantee of permanent employment.

We are dedicated to working with Wisconsinites while preserving and enhancing the natural resources of Wisconsin. In partnership with individuals and organizations, DNR staff manage fish, wildlife, forests, parks, air and water resources while promoting a healthy, sustainable environment and a full range of outdoor opportunities.
The Wisconsin DNR is recruiting to hire LTE (Limited Term Employee) – Assistant Naturalist Guide at our Buckhorn State Park, in Necedah, WI.
These positions are expected to begin in spring 2025, work through the summer, and end in the fall.

Position Summary
Assistant Naturalist Guide
These positions conduct interpretive and education programs to interpret property natural and cultural resources, teach outdoor skills, and encourage resource stewardship. This includes developing programs, displays, exhibits and other presentation methods for visitors, school groups and other community/volunteer associations.
30% – Conduct property interpretive and environmental education programs for users.
30% – Conduct nature hikes and programs to educate users on the property’s natural features, flora, fauna, wildlife and environmental issues.
15% – Develop and/or assist in developing education/naturalist programs for the property, prepare information about the natural and human history and may assist in conducting teacher-training classes
15% – Develop and prepare exhibits that highlight the property and participate in public relations programs.
10% – Establish and improve slide programs, visuals hands-on displays.
Salary Information
This position pays $15.00 per hour and is in pay schedule and range 18-00.
Compensation will be set in accordance with the State Compensation Plan.
Job Details
This is a Limited Term Employment (LTE) position and will not automatically lead to permanent state employment or be entitled to the same benefits as permanent employees.

3) May accommodate flexibility for part-time or full-time work hours and seasonal schedules. Work schedules are dependent on business needs.
4) Allow individuals to hold multiple LTE appointments concurrently. If both LTE positions are at the same agency, the positions must be bona fide different positions. Each individual LTE position allows for maximum of 1039 hours in a twelve-month period.

Qualifications
Required Qualifications for Assistant Naturalist Guides:
• Ability to communicate effectively with co-workers and the public
• Vast knowledge of Wisconsin’s Natural Resources including the state’s recreation opportunities, environment and wildlife
• Ability to work independently, be self-motivated and punctual
• Ability to work a modified schedule; nights, weekends, holidays, etc.
