Role Synopsis
BPs renewables business remains a key element of bp’s transition to an integrated energy company. The recent strategy reset reconfirmed our intent to move towards a capital lite model and more focused renewable's portfolio, which will see the creation of two new major NOJVS (Non operated joint ventures) in the renewables space, JeraNex in 2025 and a new LSBP JV as a new equity partner or partner(s) invest as per the strategy laid out in capital markets day.
Reporting to the Senior Finance Manager - Renewable and Geothermal as part of a small, agile team working across Low Carbon technologies: Offshore Wind, Solar and Geothermal. This business facing Finance & Commercial role supports the Senior Finance Manager in 1) Commercial Development & Investment Decision Support, 2) Running Joint Ventures & operations, (3) Business Planning & governance, 4) P&L delivery
Accountabilities
• Lead commercial evaluation / analysis of activities working closely across internal and external collaborators including JV partners.
• Working closely with bp functional and technical teams, enable business decisions based on sound economic analysis and business cases.
• Develop an in-depth understanding of the value and performance drivers of the Low Carbon businesses providing insights and analysis of in-year and long-term business plans
• Support commercial evaluation for multiple business development and M&A activities across the Low Carbon portfolio
• Support JV reporting requirements as required
• Support delivery of P&L, including finding opportunities to bring efficiencies
• Provide inputs, challenge to business / functions on efficiency of their plans and strategies, risks and mitigations
Experience Required:
• Highly experienced in commercial finance roles
• Strong analytical skills and commercial approach
• Strong understanding of the business model, value drivers, and market dynamics for Low Carbon businesses
• Commercial competence and capability to facilitate effective JV and partner relationships
• Solid understanding of financial and economic modelling, including bp economic evaluation methodologies
• Able to explain a spectrum of complex issues in simple ways, and in writing clear and concise briefing for executives
• Ability to influence beyond formal reporting lines
• Clear and concise communicator – able to build awareness and support of the wider Finance and Business community
