Job Description

The International Society for Industrial Ecology is seeking a Life Cycle Assessment Expert for the Malt Industry in Saanich Core, BC. The role involves collaborating with industry partners to analyze data on energy and water use in malting processes, developing simulation models, and assessing the environmental impact of barley malting. Responsibilities include presenting findings to stakeholders. This is a full-time position with no degree requirement.
About the Project

This project aims to provide a comprehensive understanding of the environmental impacts associated with barley malting in Canada. By working closely with industry partners, we aim to identify areas of improvement and develop optimized malting processes that reduce water and energy use while minimizing life cycle greenhouse gas emissions.
Your Responsibilities

You will be responsible for:
• Collaborating with industry partners to collect data on energy and water use at various stages of the malting process.
• Analyzing data to evaluate the efficiency of different malt processing systems and identifying areas for improvement.
• Developing and implementing process simulation models to estimate the impact of modified malt processing protocols on energy and water use.
• Integrating results from your analysis with existing life cycle inventory models to assess the overall environmental impact of barley malting in Canada.
• Presenting findings and recommendations to stakeholders, including industry partners and policymakers.
