Life Cycle Assessment Expert for Sustainable Barley Malting

The International Society for Industrial Ecology is seeking a highly skilled Life Cycle Assessment Expert to join our team. As a key member of our malting industry sustainability project, you will be responsible for conducting life cycle assessments and technoeconomic evaluations to identify opportunities for improving the environmental performance of barley malt production in Canada.

Your work will involve collaborating with industry partners, such as Boortmalt and MakersMalt, to collect data on energy and water use, as well as other relevant inputs and outputs, at each step of the malting process. You will then use this information to evaluate the efficiency of different malt processing systems and develop optimized protocols for reducing greenhouse gas emissions and other environmental impacts.

With a strong background in interdisciplinary graduate studies in sustainability, you will apply your knowledge of systems thinking, life cycle assessment, and economic analysis to support decision-making in the malting industry.
