Job Description

JD Ross Energy is seeking a Legal Counsel for their renewable energy projects in Manly, NSW, Australia. The role involves providing legal support throughout the project lifecycle, including drafting and negotiating contracts related to renewable energy infrastructure. Candidates should be qualified Australian solicitors with at least 5 years of experience, particularly in wind, solar, and storage projects. This is a full-time position with a salary of $200K per year.

Position Overview:

I am seeking an experienced and motivated Legal Counsel to become a key member of the in-house legal team. This is a unique opportunity to work across the full lifecycle of the energy projects from development through to operations, ensuring legal compliance and facilitating smooth project implementation.

Joining the team, you will report directly to the Legal Director and be responsible for in-house legal matters including drafting agreements, addressing compliance issues, and participating in negotiation discussions.

Key Responsibilities:
• Provide legal support across the full project lifecycle of development, finance, construction and operation & maintenance.
• Ability to draft, review and negotiate contracts related to the development and construction of renewables infrastructure including NDAs, Exclusivity Agreements, procurement contracts, PPAs, EPC, and O&M contracts and related agreements.
• Experience with project finance structures would be nice to have.
• Ability to take ownership of matters within current skill set and experience whilst playing a team role in supporting larger or more complex matters is highly important.
• Ability to work to your own initiative / self-motivated.

Qualifications:
• Qualified Australian solicitor/lawyer with 5+ years post-qualification experience.
• Expertise in renewable energy projects, particularly wind, solar, and storage.
• Strong contract negotiation skills and knowledge of energy regulations.
