Job Description
The University of Bristol is seeking a Lecturer/Senior Lecturer in Sustainable Energy/Energy & People. This role focuses on linking energy systems technology with user engagement to support the transition to a net-zero future. Candidates should have a PhD, experience in research and teaching, and a passion for high-quality education. The position offers leadership opportunities in a collaborative environment. The job is based in Bristol, UK, and is not remote.
Salary:
Grade K £49,559 - £55,755;
Grade L £59,139 - £66,537, per annum
The role
This is an exceptional opportunity for a person who wants to link the technology of energy systems to those who use it. You would work with exceptionally strong multidisciplinary groups where energy is treated as much more than just a technical challenge.
The energy system transition to a net zero future requires transdisciplinary, integrated approaches to both research and teaching. The Energy System research theme (within the Electrical Energy Management group) spans from system-level analyses to component design, with partners in the UK and internationally. The Energy Management and Flow Academic Team provides education in all of the School's undergraduate programmes as well as postgraduate education. It is progressive, innovative, prize-winning, and committed to team working.
We require a Lecturer/ Senior Lecturer who will grow into these roles. The post promises the successful candidate leadership opportunities and the potential for advancement in a supportive, well-resourced environment.
What will you be doing?
In this role you would work at the interface between people and energy systems is areas such as, but not limited to, decarbonisation, low carbon innovation, energy for adaptation and mitigation, behaviour change, and public attitudes. You will work with other members of the Energy Systems theme and the School and University to conceive, fund, and carry out research projects. You will undertake a wide range of teaching activities with modern delivery methods, and student projects. You should be passionate about high quality teaching in a range of contexts. You will work with other members of the academic team to deliver modern, innovatory teaching and will have a central, leading role in shaping energy teaching.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone to work at the application of energy systems and who wishes to develop this through their career. We are particularly interested if you have experience in developing, conducting and analysing quantitative and qualitative methods, such as surveys and interviews, to develop key outcomes. You should have a PhD in a relevant field and be enthused by the opportunity to work with and teach engineers. We require someone who is flexible, reliable, and able to work well in teams. You should be able to build strong relationships with stakeholders within and beyond the University. The job description contains the requirements in full.
