Job Description

Capstone Green Energy is seeking a Lean Leader in Los Angeles, CA, to drive operational excellence through Lean transformations and continuous improvement. The role involves optimizing workflows, reducing waste, and coaching teams to enhance efficiency. Key responsibilities include process improvement, statistical analysis for cost reduction, and developing training materials. Candidates should have Lean leadership experience, strong problem-solving skills, and a background in manufacturing engineering.
The Lean Leader drives Capstone Green Energy’s operational excellence by leading Lean transformations, optimizing workflows, and fostering a culture of continuous improvement. This position champions Lean methodologies, develops enterprise-wide performance optimization strategies, and empowers teams to reduce waste, enhance efficiency, and achieve business objectives. Leading with analytical rigor, collaboration, and influence, the ideal candidate coaches teams, implements best practices, and drives sustainable improvements that strengthen Capstone’s reputation for innovation and operational excellence.

This is an on-site position.

Duties and Responsibilities
• Drive process improvements that enhance cost efficiency, quality, and service.
• Support first-pass yield (FPY) improvement initiatives to optimize manufacturing quality.
• Partner with EHS team, ensuring continuous improvement efforts align with workplace safety standards.
• Perform statistical analysis to identify opportunities for cost reduction, quality enhancement, and operational efficiency.
• Analyze and optimize workflows, labor utilization, and facility layout for maximum efficiency. Implement visual factory throughout production cells with data driven KPI’s.
• Conduct root cause analysis on process deficiencies using to drive corrective action.
• Develop and deliver training on new manufacturing processes, tooling, and equipment, ensuring materials remain current and effective.
• Prepare and utilize Lean tools, including time studies, process flow charts, standard work, spaghetti diagrams, and combination worksheets to improve efficiency.
• Demonstrate informal leadership skills to partner with cross-functional teams, facilitating continuous improvement initiatives and ensuring alignment across organizational levels.
• Present team achievements and process improvements to management, showcasing data-driven results.

Skills and Abilities Required
• Proven Lean leadership experience, with a focus on coaching and cultural transformation.
• Strong problem-solving mindset and root cause analysis expertise.
• Ability to prioritize and manage multiple business needs effectively.
• Data-driven decision-making, with experience tracking and reporting improvements.
• Effective communicator and facilitator, able to engage teams at all levels.
• Strategic thinker, capable of aligning Lean initiatives with company objectives.
• Self-starter with high energy, driving change and influencing outcomes.
• Certified Green Belt in LEAN, DMAIC, or DFSS methodologies from an accredited institution.

Education and Experience Desired
• Bachelor’s Degree Preferred (Engineering preferred).
• 5+ years of experience in manufacturing engineering or a related field.
• Certified Black Belt (Preferred) in LEAN, DMAIC, or DFSS methodologies from an accredited institution.
• Electro-mechanical background preferred.
• Experience across various manufacturing functions, including Production, Supply Chain, and Remanufacturing.

Work Environment
• Extensive periods of sitting and computer use.
• Willingness to work beyond a standard 40-hour workweek.
