Arup is seeking a Lead Environmental Consultant in Perth, WA, to lead environmental initiatives across various projects, including infrastructure. The role involves driving environmental assessments, providing strategic insights, and mentoring teams. Candidates should have extensive environmental consulting experience and relevant qualifications. About this role
This role’s focus is to provide input and leadership on a range of environmental related projects and associated statutory approvals. This will include large infrastructure projects and smaller projects in a diverse range of sectors including transport, energy, local and state government and water. Experience in transport projects is preferred
What will I do?
• Lead high-impact environmental initiatives across a diverse portfolio of projects in WA, while contributing expertise to projects across ANZ.
• Drive complex environmental assessments, including Environmental Protection Authority (EPA) approvals, post-approval compliance, clearing permits, and policy advisory, shaping sustainable project outcomes.
• Provide strategic environmental insights to clients, delivering high-quality reports that influence decision-making and champion sustainability.
• Collaborate with senior leaders and multidisciplinary teams, ensuring seamless integration of environmental considerations into projects and bids.
• Cultivate and strengthen client relationships, positioning Arup as a trusted advisor and expanding our presence in the environmental consultancy space.
• Lead and mentor teams, overseeing internal specialists and sub-consultants, ensuring the highest standards of quality, accuracy, and innovation in environmental consulting.
Is this role right for you?
• Extensive experience in environmental consulting, private industry, or government, with a strong track record of delivering impactful outcomes.
• Your background in resources and ports portfolios will be advantageous.
• Relevant tertiary qualifications in Environmental Management, Science, Planning, Engineering, or a related discipline.
• Strong stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to build trusted relationships across government and private sectors.
• Expertise in navigating approval pathways and shaping environmental policy, providing strategic advice on regulatory frameworks and their evolution.
• Proven experience in environmental planning, leading environmental impact assessments and securing approvals for complex projects.
• Ability to identify and mitigate environmental risks early, ensuring practical and positive environmental outcomes.
• Active membership or eligibility for membership in relevant professional institutions or peer bodies.
• In-depth knowledge of environmental legislation, regulations, and industry best practices, with a strong preference for experience in WA’s regulatory environment.
