ICF is hiring a Lead Commercial Buildings Energy Consultant to support energy efficiency and sustainability programs for government clients. The role involves developing strategies, conducting research, and managing projects in a hybrid work environment. Candidates should have a relevant degree and significant experience in energy efficiency programs. The position is available in multiple locations, including remote work within the Continental US.
Lead Commercial Buildings Energy Consultant

Locations: Denver (Golden, CO), Washington DC (Reston, VA), or Remote Continental US

LOB/Portfolio: CET/EID/Commercial/Industrial Energy Programs (CIEP)

We design and develop energy and climate programs, engaging with industry leaders and government officials to save energy and reduce greenhouse gas emissions at ICF.

ICF seeks a detail-oriented candidate to help state and federal government clients implement and evolve their energy efficiency, decarbonization, and sustainability programs in a hybrid work environment.

This position supports the implementation of high-profile public-private partnership programs to drive energy efficiency and emissions reductions across government, education, commercial, multifamily, institutional, and industrial markets.

Key Responsibilities:
• Develop local, regional, and national strategies to influence the market and increase participation in voluntary energy, energy efficiency, building electrification, and decarbonization programs.
• Conduct research and analysis of energy efficiency, electrification, renewable energy, and decarbonization programs and policies.
• Develop communications, outreach, and training resources, including newsletters, case studies, website content, webinars, and in-person events.
• Conduct outreach to energy and sustainability managers.
• Support partner recruitment, onboarding, and ongoing support to maximize program participation.
• Maintain detailed records in a customer relationship management system.
• Assist with project management tasks including project deliverables, program staffing and budget management.
• Manage and co-manage projects.
• Manage a small team of staff.

Minimum Qualifications:
• Bachelor's degree in a related discipline (e.g., environmental studies, engineering, public policy, science, business).
• 5+ years relevant experience in public and/or commercial buildings sector energy efficiency and sustainability programs.

Preferred Qualifications:
• Master's degree in a related discipline (e.g., environmental studies, engineering, public policy, science, business).
• 8+ years of relevant experience in public and/or commercial sector building energy efficiency and sustainability programs.
• Experience with ENERGY STAR, DOE Better Buildings/Better Plants, LEED, and/or other efficiency/sustainability tools and program platforms.
• Familiarity with the development and delivery of public-private voluntary partnership programs.
• Project management training (e.g., PMP) and experience.
• Experience writing reports, articles, case studies, or other communications materials.
• Experience working with Customer Relationship Management (CRM) software systems.
