Our client, a forward-thinking architectural firm, is seeking an innovative and experienced Lead Architectural Designer to spearhead projects focused on sustainable urban development in Boise, Idaho, US . This pivotal role requires a visionary individual who can translate complex client needs and site-specific challenges into aesthetically compelling, functional, and environmentally responsible designs. The ideal candidate will possess a deep understanding of architectural principles, sustainable design practices, building codes, and project management, with a proven track record of leading design teams and delivering high-quality projects.
Responsibilities:
Lead the conceptualization, design development, and documentation phases for a variety of urban development projects, with a strong emphasis on sustainability and community integration. Direct and mentor junior designers and support staff, fostering a collaborative and creative design environment. Collaborate closely with clients, engineers, urban planners, and other stakeholders to define project scope, objectives, and design requirements. Ensure design solutions are compliant with local zoning ordinances, building codes, ADA requirements, and sustainability certifications (e.g., LEED). Develop innovative and contextually appropriate design strategies that respond to environmental factors, site conditions, and urban fabric. Produce high-quality architectural drawings, renderings, models, and specifications using industry-standard software. Manage project design schedules and contribute to budget oversight. Conduct site analysis and feasibility studies to inform design decisions. Present design proposals and progress updates to clients, review boards, and stakeholders. Champion sustainable design principles and innovative materials throughout the design process.
Qualifications:
Professional degree in Architecture (B.Arch or M.Arch) from an accredited institution. NCARB certification and licensure as a Registered Architect in Idaho (or eligibility for reciprocity) is required. Minimum of 8 years of progressive experience in architectural design, with at least 3 years in a leadership or senior design role, particularly in urban development or sustainable design projects. Proficiency in architectural design software such as Revit, AutoCAD, SketchUp, Adobe Creative Suite, and rendering programs (e.g., V-Ray, Lumion). Strong portfolio showcasing a range of successfully completed sustainable and urban design projects. Expertise in sustainable design strategies, green building materials, and energy-efficient design principles. Excellent understanding of building codes, zoning regulations, and construction documentation. Exceptional conceptual thinking, creative problem-solving, and design visualization skills. Strong leadership, communication, and team collaboration abilities. Experience with project management and coordinating with consultants and contractors.
