VERDANT is a boutique landscape design firm founded in 2001 and headquartered in the Gowanus district in Brooklyn. Our clients range from high end residential gardens throughout Manhattan and Brooklyn to boutique hotels and corporate headquarters. Our projects continually challenge conventional design and redefine the dialogue between landscape and architecture.

We are looking for a skilled and motivated installation assistant to help implement custom one-of-a-kind landscapes. This person will work with a small team on large installations, including interpreting design plans and technical drawings, anticipating project needs and meeting deadlines. Our ideal candidate will also be familiar with commonly used irrigation systems and be able to troubleshoot repairs and modifications. Working knowledge of carpentry, masonry and metal work is a plus.

Our designs typically integrate eclectic plant selections and a range of custom fabricated details. Those with green roof installation experience are encouraged to apply. Responsibilities/Duties
• Installation of new projects, including: preparing planters and planting areas, use of hand and power tools, planting of trees, shrubs, and perennials following the designer’s intent
• Assisting with small carpentry projects, masonry work, and installation of irrigation, including frequent use of power tools, including: drill, angle grinder, sawzall, circular saw, pressure washer and air compressor
• Pre-installation site preparation and post installation final clean up, often working in completed or occupied residences
• Coordination, load in and load out of all materials, transporting tools & materials to and from job sites
• Communicating with Verdant office and field staff, on-site documentation
Qualifications/Requirements
• Experience with planting, irrigation, carpentry, masonry or low voltage lighting
• Experience with green roof installation, including: carpentry, edging, pavers, pedestal systems and masonry
• Comfort taking direction and collaborating with a team and also working independently
• In good physical health and prepared to work in all types of weather. Ability to lift at least 50 lbs, climb ladders and access sites via lifts
• Valid Driver's License and clean driving record, comfortable driving a large truck or cargo van
• Knowledge of neighborhoods throughout NYC area and MTA buses & subway
• Familiarity with commonly used plants and the fundamentals of plant care
