Job Description

The Landscape Maintenance Technician at QE Solar in Dover, DE is responsible for maintaining a 500-acre solar plant site through tasks like mowing, trimming, pest control, and landscape assessment. Candidates should have knowledge of land management equipment and landscaping practices. Physical abilities are essential, including lifting 50 pounds and working outdoors in various weather conditions. A high school or technical school degree is required.
Description As a Landscape Maintenance Technician with QE Solar, you will be responsible for ensuring the upkeep of a utility-scale 500-acre Solar Plant Site year-round. In this role, you will perform a variety of tasks which may include a combination of the following: mowing, trimming, gathering and removing dead vegetation. Applicants should be able to demonstrate a competent knowledge of the use and safety procedures for medium or heavy land management equipment such as mowers, tractors, towing and trailers, as well as the use of hand tools, such as shovels, rakes, pruning saws, saws, hedge or brush trimmers, or axes.

Essential Job Functions & Responsibilities
• Monitor and maintain 500 acres of land.
• Greenskeeping - Ensuring Shrub upkeep, perimeter management, erosion management, accessible pathways, etc.
• Pest control (Beehives etc.)
• Prevention of animal intrusion (Deer, Gopher damage etc.)
• Landscape assessment and inspection of grounds from soil erosion & runoff management
• Ensuring Site is secure at all times.
• Taking full ownership of land at all times

Knowledge
• Servicing, repairing, adjusting, and testing machines, devices, moving parts, and equipment that operate primarily on the basis of mechanical (not electronic) principles.
• Maintain or repair tools, equipment, or structures, such as buildings, greenhouses, fences, or benches, using hand or power tools.
• Inspecting equipment, structures, or materials to identify the cause of errors or other problems or defects.
• Evaluate reports or designs to determine work needs.
• Knowledge of erosion and runoff management, proposing drainage solutions and implementing fixes to maintain the integrity of the land surrounding the solar panel site
• Mowers, Tractors, Hand Tools, Safety Procedures & Work Gear (Personal Protective Equipment PPE)
• Landscaping Management. Mechanical knowledge

Skills
• Care for established lawns by mulching, aerating, weeding, grubbing, removing thatch, or trimming or edging around fencing, walks, or walls.
• Mow or edge lawns, using power mowers or edgers.
• Rake, mulch, and compost leaves. Trim trees or other vegetation.
• Mix and spray or spread fertilizers, herbicides, or insecticides onto grass, shrubs, or trees, using hand or automatic sprayers or spreaders.
• Dispose of trash or waste materials.
• Operate grounds maintenance equipment.
• Drive trucks or other vehicles to or at work sites.
• Clean facilities or sites.
• Remove debris from work sites.
• Install fencing or other barriers.
• Provide information about landscaping services or costs.

Abilities
• Physical Abilities and Working Condition Abilities are Required for this role
• Physical Requirements Ability to lift 50 pounds regularly
• Ability to sit or stand for prolonged periods.
• Ability to work in all outdoor weather conditions
• Perform physical activities that require considerable use of your arms and legs and moving your whole body, such as climbing, lifting, balancing, walking, stooping, and handling materials.

Working Conditions
• Outdoors, Exposed to Weather & Regional Temperatures and Conditions
• Sounds and Noise Levels
• Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) to be worn daily, such as safety boots, glasses, gloves, hearing protections, hard hat, etc.

Required Education
• High School or Technical School Degree, Or, equivalent combination of education and experience; Veterans or military experienced candidates are strongly encouraged to apply

Required Experience
• 3-5+ years of commercial vegetation management. 1-3+ years mechanical background.
• Preferred Experience Utility site vegetation management
• Required Certifications, Licensures, Etc. CDL License. OSHA 10 Certification.
• Experience working with Ventrac Tractors and/or Altoz
Willingness to obtain certifications

Ability To Relocate
• Hookstown, PA: If not local, candidate must relocate before starting work (Required)
