Description
The City of Jersey City is a rapidly growing, highly urbanized environment, with Green initiatives flourishing and a continuous need for innovative, civic-minded Public Open space to work in concert with the other City's complete streets policy and design. With the City's last completion of a comprehensive Master Plan for Open Space - opportunities to expand the always-in-need park spaces are always an exciting challenge!
The Division of Architecture is seeking a Landscape Architect to bring expertise to a team of professionals responsible for ensuring the design, construction of architectural and engineering systems and their integration from design into construction, promoting cost-effective, successful projects for the City are completed on time and within budget. Effective collaboration with the City Administration, professionals, and staff to establish and prioritize work assignments that encourage efficient operation and project completion.
Examples of Duties
Conducts preliminary analysis and prepares reports on the project planning design process.
Conducts surveys in an area and gathers information on the residents.
Reviews, analyses, and interprets various requests into useful information for use in the development and preparation of maps, concepts, design, construction documents, and factual reports.
Prepare plans, graphics, and other data for submission or presentation to the state, municipality, or county.
Assist in designing and drafting graphic information.
Assists in the coordination and administration of planning programs and studies to master plans.
Represents the Division at City meetings involving local government and the Public.
Corresponds directly with the Public, including formal presentations.
Assists with the management of grant programs (including, but not limited to writing grant applications, developing and managing budgets, and performing other administrative tasks).
Creates documents, summaries, reports, and other presentation materials.
Assist with field observation during construction projects.
Qualifications
Required Education: Graduation from an accredited college or university with a Bachelor's degree in Landscape Architecture.
Required Experience: Four (4) years of experience in landscape architecture and/or urban planning.
NOTE: Possession of a Master's degree in Planning from an accredited college or university may be substituted for one (1) year of indicated experience.
Required License: Appointees must possess a license as a Landscape Architect issued by the New Jersey State Board of Architects.
Appointees will be required to possess a driver's license valid in New Jersey only if the operation of a vehicle, rather than employee mobility, is necessary to perform the essential duties of the position.
