Job Description
Transgrid is seeking a Land Acquisition Specialist in Sydney, NSW, for a two-year fixed term. The role involves supporting land access and property acquisition for major infrastructure projects, working with internal teams and external stakeholders. Responsibilities include project coordination, compliance management, and stakeholder engagement. Candidates should have 3-5+ years of experience in land access or property management and a solid understanding of NSW property laws.
At Transgrid, we play a vital role in delivering safe, reliable, and sustainable energy to millions of Australians. We operate over 13,000 km of high-voltage transmission lines and 128 substations across NSW and the ACT, connecting electricity generators to the distribution network—powering homes, businesses, and communities.
The energy sector is evolving, and we're growing our workforce to drive innovation and transformation. We're seeking a skilled and motivated Land and Property Officer to join our team on a two-year fixed term basis. This critical role supports the delivery of major infrastructure and capital projects by ensuring land access and property acquisition activities are effectively planned, supported, coordinated, and executed.
You'll work closely with internal teams across Legal, Major Projects, and Stakeholder Relations, as well as external land agents, government bodies, and landowners. Your day-to-day will include supporting negotiations for property access, overseeing compulsory acquisition processes when required, and ensuring compliance with all relevant legal, environmental, and safety standards.
This is a hands-on role that requires both strategic oversight and practical project coordination. You'll be key to helping Transgrid secure the land access needed to power essential infrastructure, while maintaining strong community and stakeholder relationships.
A Day in the Life

• Ensure Compliance & Risk Management: Maintain accurate records and property data, ensuring all activities are compliant with legal, environmental, and procedural standards.
• Engaging Stakeholders: Work closely with internal teams (Legal, Stakeholder Relations, Project Delivery) and support Project Lead engagement with external stakeholders including government agencies, councils, and land agents to align land activities with project timelines.
• Support & Access: Support coordination of entry for project teams, ensuring timely site availability while maintaining strong landholder relationships and managing access protocols.
We're seeking someone with a strong foundation in land and property who can operate confidently in a fast-paced infrastructure environment. Ideally, you'll bring:
• Meticulous attention to detail, taking pride in producing high-quality, precise outputs.
• 3-5+ years' experience in any of the following disciplines: land access, acquisition, tenure, law or portfolio management.
• Solid understanding of property and planning laws in NSW.
• Solid understanding of NSW's real property system such as registration of easement processes, public geo-spatial systems (e.g. Six maps).
• A proactive, adaptable approach to problem-solving with the ability to manage shifting priorities and think laterally in complex project environments.
We empower our people with a well-rounded benefits package designed to support their personal, professional, and social well-being. Employees have access to corporate discounts across retail, utilities, travel, health & wellbeing etc, as well as novated leasing options, workplace flexibility, and more.
We provide regular and ongoing training, workplace mentoring, and tertiary education to help you build a career that's right for you.
