Job Description

Randstad Technologies Recruitment is seeking a Laboratory Technician in Waltham on the Wolds, UK, for a 6-month project support role. Responsibilities include hands-on laboratory work, sample handling, and assisting in research diet preparation. The ideal candidate should have A-Level education or equivalent, preferably a BSc in a scientific discipline, and experience in a laboratory environment. Strong attention to detail and teamwork skills are essential.
Job Purpose/Overview

The Trial Support Technician - Project Support role exists to provide crucial laboratory assistance for the successful implementation and execution of specific projects within the organisation. By supporting project activities, this role contributes directly to the achievement of project goals and overall research success.

Length: Initially 6 moths

Key Responsibilities

Primary task (80%): Hands-on laboratory work on designated projects, including sample handling, storage, and performing laboratory procedures with meticulous attention to detail and adherence to laboratory standards.

Supplementation of diets for studies (10%): Assisting with the preparation of supplements to be included in research diets.

Secondary tasks (10%): Participating in research support team meetings, conducting trial after-action reviews, and liaising with research team members to track trial requirements and progress updates.Context and Scope

The Trial Support Technician will operate under the guidance of the Research Support Team Leader to ensure efficient execution of trial requests. This includes attending regular team meetings, adhering to risk assessments and protocols, and accurately recording data using various formats (e.g., LIMS, Excel spreadsheets). The role will actively contribute to projects aimed at enhancing project delivery efficiency and quality.

Job Specifications/Qualifications

Minimum education to A-Level standard or equivalent; a higher education qualification (e.g., BSc) in a scientific discipline is preferred.Knowledge/Experience:

Strong attention to detail, accuracy, and quality of work.

Previous experience in a laboratory environment, either through academic studies or work experience.

Ability to work effectively under deadlines and communicate well.

Flexibility to handle various techniques within a dynamic workday.

Strong learning agility and the ability to collaborate within a team.

Proficiency in computer skills.This position requires a level of physical and mental agility to perform laboratory tasks efficiently and accurately, manage multiple responsibilities, and communicate effectively within the research team. Preferred qualifications include higher education in a scientific discipline and prior experience in laboratory settings.
