Job Description
Stonehaven Microbiology Services Limited is seeking a Laboratory Technician in Oldmeldrum, UK. The role involves media preparation, microbiological and chemical analyses, data recording, and laboratory maintenance. Candidates should have a positive attitude and a willingness to learn. Full training is provided, and the position requires compliance with health and safety regulations. This is a full-time position, and no specific degree is required.

• Media preparation, quality assurance and maintenance of stock.
• Preparation of samples for processing in the laboratory.
• Microbiological analyses of samples (weighing out, plating out, PCR, etc.).
• Chemical analyses of samples.
• Reading and recording sample results (reading plates,Petrifilms, PCR, etc.).
• Passing completed sample results (job packs) to Laboratory Manager.
• Cleaning of laboratory suites (including sweeping and washing floors, washing glass partitions, emptying bins, etc.). Ensuring safe removal of laboratory waste.
• Calibration and maintenance of laboratory equipment.
• Dealing with all aspects of laboratory glassware, including washing, sorting and disposal/recycling..
• Recording of data for laboratory records (recording daily incubator temperature readings, etc.).
• Processing laboratory paperwork, customer reports, etc.
• Preparation of laboratory report templates.
• Sample reception and booking in of customer samples.
• Liaising with customers where required.
• Compliance with all health and safety rules and procedures.
• Auditing and Quality Control in support of UKAS accreditation, including horizontal, vertical and test witnessing audits.
• Any other duties as may be requested by the Laboratory Manager.
• Full training will be given where necessary.
