PTS Advance is looking for a Lab Technician I. This is a contract assignment in Richmond, CA.The lab tech. operates complex distillation and process laboratory equipment maintaining round-the-clock operations under the direction of the supervisor or lead technician.
Laboratory equipment includes large and small reactors and distillation columns. Operating at elevated temperatures and atmospheric and sub-atmospheric pressures.

LOCAL Candidates only
Start date: 4/27/2024
Pay rate: $28-30 hr. DOE.
10 days PTO (accrued)
Work schedule is rotating shifts (graveyard, days, and swing),
Monday through Friday (9/80)
Occasional weekend overtime. (although rare, some overtime will be mandatory)
• Full participation in Safety Metrics, Operational Excellence (OE) individually, on your crew and within business unit.
• Operates process units, utility systems, and related equipment in accordance with the requests of researchers and oversight of the supervisor or lead technician. Ensures equipment is properly inspected to detect any unsafe or improperly functioning equipment.
• Provides support in sample handling activities for research and crude oil assay samples for internal and external customers and other internal labs.
• Meets Safety/OE objectives and milestones.

Minimum Requirements:
• High School Diploma or GED
• (Minimum 2+ yrs.) Plant and/or Lab Operations experience (plant equipment and maintenance) or equivalent mechanical background work
• Experience with safely operating process equipment and instruments.
• A firm commitment to lab safety, Operational Excellence, and Human Organizational Performance
• Strong mechanical aptitude
• Basic use knowledge of Microsoft 365, Excel, and Word software
• Strong teamwork and communication skills. Ability to develop and maintain strong relationships with colleagues both within the team and outside their immediate work group.

Preferred skills:
• Associate degree, or equivalent in science, technology, mechanical/pipe fitting trade or related field.
• Refinery Operator Training - experience/attendance in ROP/P-Tech
• Some knowledge of basic control instrumentation and electrical systems
• Experience in working with chemicals, heavy oil, and distillate research or related materials.
