Job Description
Green Analytics MD, LLC is seeking a Lab Technician I with a degree in Microbiology or Chemistry for their Columbia, MD location. The role involves sample collection, testing, and data documentation. Candidates must live within a reasonable commute to the office. The position requires analytical skills, proficiency in Microsoft Office, and the ability to perform physically demanding tasks. Safety compliance and teamwork are essential.

ABOUT US: The Green Analytics’ companies are leaders in cannabis science and technology with significant footprints in laboratory testing and analytics, research and development, genetics, cultivation consulting, environmental swabbing and monitoring, packaging integrity studies, and product development. Our teams, led by highly experienced Ph.D. 's and analytical chemists, hold accuracy, customer service, and rapid turnaround time as our primary commitments to the medical and recreational cannabis cultivators and processors we serve. Employees may be exposed to common allergens and must be comfortable working with/near cannabis related products.
POSITION SUMMARY: This is an entry level position responsible for the collection and testing of samples of various chemical compounds and biological specimens. Daily work involves the routine and repetitive use of various types of machinery, lab equipment and programs to perform tests, record data or findings and present information.
LAB TECHNICIAN I ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
• Prepares and weighs product samples; performs repetitive/routine testing activities to include accessioning and pipetting
• Documents results pertaining to strength, stability, purity, chemical content, and other characteristics
• Assembles data and other pertinent information into groups, charts, graphs, reports, and the like for others to evaluate
• Helps to set up laboratory equipment and instrumentation required for testing activities under the supervision of team analysts
• Utilizes problem-solving skills to help to determine when an apparatus may need to be recalibrated or requires servicing
• Restocks inventory supplies used in various testing activities; provides for the weekly cleaning of glassware
• Records and verifies log entries for various pieces of equipment/apparatus including balances, incubator, refrigerator/freezer, etc.
• Complies with all established safety, health, and environmental rules and regulations designed to ensure a safe work environment
• Expected to perform other job-related duties as assigned
LAB TECHNICIAN I POSITION REQUIREMENTS:
General Knowledge/Abilities
• Ability to fluently speak and read the English language along with understanding and following both written and verbal direction
• Ability to function independently, have personal integrity, flexibility and the ability to work effectively with fellow employees
• Analytical and numerical skills: ability to perform mathematical calculations in different units of measurement
• Ability to use concepts such as fractions, percentages, and ratios; demonstrated abilities in troubleshooting and problem-solving
• Basic knowledge of modern office practices and use of Microsoft Office Suite for Word and Excel
• Experience in driving tasks and meeting deadlines; accountable for the completion of assigned goals and objectives
• Ability to build relationships to strengthen partnerships with a focus on customer service
• Ability to perform physically demanding work such as moving and lifting equipment, standing for long periods of time, etc.
Education, Licenses/Certifications
• Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry or a related field from an accredited college
• Relevant industry experience may be considered in lieu of the above requirement
Preferred Experience
• 2 years academic experience in an analytical laboratory setting
• 1-2 years in experience in service based/customer-facing position
