Natural Factors is seeking a Lab Technician in Coquitlam, BC, to perform quality control testing using various analytical techniques. The role involves assessing raw materials and final products, maintaining lab equipment, and participating in process improvements. Friday to Monday 7:30 am – 6:00 pm; Permanent Full-Time (40 hours)
Job Summary:
The Lab Technician provides robust testing using titration, wet chemistry, and physical analysis techniques while improving area logistics and efficiency.
You Will:
• Perform QC testing and assess data against predetermined specifications on raw materials, in-process samples, and final products using ICP, HPLC, or ELISA instruments in addition to basic lab testing (i.e. weights, UV-Vis, FTIR, etc.) as per pharmacopeial or inhouse methods
• Follow safe work and lab practices for cleaning lab glassware, equipment use and preventative maintenance, sample handling and archiving, chemical and waste handling, gas cylinder movement, and lifting items up to 15kg
• Report and participate in lab and product excursion investigations such as alert, action, out-of-specification (OOS), out-of-trend (OOT) and non-conformance investigations (NCI)
• Participate in process improvement by supporting system enhancements
• Write and revise QC methods, standard operating procedures (SOPs) and work procedures (WPs), help maintain reference standards and their records, participate in product specification revisions, and perform QC peer review
• Learn and apply understanding of lab information management software (LIMS) from sample login to run completion
You Have:
• Completion of a diploma or bachelor’s degree in chemistry
• Experience operating and maintaining lab equipment and instrumentation (2+ years)
• Experience in an analytical lab setting
• Proficiency with computers (including MS Word, Excel, SharePoint & Outlook)
• Ability to lift and move items up to 15 kg
• Familiarity with lab information management system (LIMS) (an asset)
• Lean Six Sigma training or equivalent (an asset)
• An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered
