Position Overview
The Environmental Specialist 2 at Kiewit will support the water and wastewater market by developing, implementing, and managing environmental compliance programs and strategies for water infrastructure projects. This role requires frequent travel to various project sites to ensure compliance with environmental regulations and standards.
District Overview
Kiewit's Water Facilities South group is one of Kiewit's leading water/wastewater districts specializing in constructing water treatment facilities, wastewater treatment facilities, and desalination plants. Although we are headquartered in Dallas TX, with regional offices in Miami FL and Atlanta GA, we also pursue various projects stretching across the country. We are looking for individuals who are passionate about infrastructure and committed to the construction industry as opposed to design. Locations: Westlake, TX; Fort Lauderdale, Tampa, and Orlando, FL
Responsibilities
• Conduct environmental compliance inspections and sampling for water and wastewater projects.
• Develop and update environmental plans specific to water treatment, reuse, storage, and conveyance.
• Lead environmental compliance efforts for multiple water and wastewater projects.
• Communicate with field crews, internal teams, and external agencies to ensure project requirements are met.
• Conduct environmental training and field inspections.
• Manage data and processes for environmental compliance.
• Identify and mitigate environmental risks associated with water and wastewater projects.
Qualifications
• Bachelor's degree in environmental health, environmental engineering, environmental studies, or a related field.
• Previous experience as an environmental coordinator or project coordinator, preferably in the water/wastewater sector.
• Strong understanding of environmental regulations and compliance related to water and wastewater projects.
• Proficiency in environmental management systems and software tools.
• Effective communication skills for interacting with various stakeholders.
• Willingness and ability to travel extensively to support project needs.
