The ideal candidate will apply their knowledge of biology, ecology, environmental science, and natural systems to transportation and development projects in Georgia and the Southeast. The entry-level ecologist will work closely with senior-level staff to develop skills and their career.Duties may include, but are not limited to:Assist in natural resource field surveys in Georgia including identification and delineation of water resources (wetlands, streams, open waters, etc.) and protected species/suitable habitat assessment surveysCollect GPS data in the field with the use of a hand-held GPS unitPrepare GIS maps and figures for use in reportsAssist with the preparation of technical reports and permitting documentsApply quality control procedures in alignment with ISOBecome familiar with regulatory requirements and restrictions for various projects and ensure complianceAttend site visits with regulatory agency representativesAttend project meetingsWork in a team environment or independentlyProvide on-time delivery of project expectations with favorable feedbackOvernight travel within Georgia or in adjacent states may be requiredPerform administrative duties as requestedQualifications/SkillsArcGIS Pro and ESRI Field maps experience preferredProficiency with the MS Office suite of softwareWillingness to learn new skills/abilities and take initiativeAbility to work remotely and in the Duluth, GA, office when requiredOvernight travel within Georgia or in adjacent states may be required on occasionAbility to safely conduct field surveys in various weather and challenging field conditionsQualificationsBachelor's Degree or equivalent experience required.Minimum of 0 -2 years of professional experience. Appropriate professional certification preferred.Pre-employment drug screening is a condition of employment. Background and motor vehicle checks may be required based upon position.
