Job Description
AltGen South Africa is hiring a Junior Procurement & Logistic Officer in Stellenbosch. The role involves procuring materials for solar PV projects, managing logistics, and collaborating with the project team. Candidates should have at least 1 year of logistics experience, preferably in the solar industry, and possess strong organizational and communication skills. This is a full-time, contract position with no degree required.
Procurement of components, services, and logistics arrangements for predominantly solar PV grid-connected power plants. This is a key position in the EPC value chain and requires a highly organized and reliable team member.
Responsibilities
• Request quotations for materials during bidding phases, including delivery time frames and payment terms.
• Procure materials for renewable energy plants.
• Arrange plant hire for site works.
• Plan and schedule shipping of materials and plant hire to site.
• Manage storage (containers, warehousing) and delivery to site.
• Collaborate using project management tools to ensure up-to-date scheduling and delivery status.
• Obtain competitive prices by soliciting a minimum of three quotes.
• Issue procurement orders with detailed information on materials, pricing, delivery, and terms and conditions, in coordination with the Project Team.
• Follow up regularly on delivery status, keeping the P&L team informed.
• Maintain and update the supplier database.
• Negotiate payment terms and conditions.
• Additional duties include administrative tasks and making travel arrangements.
Experience and Core Competencies
• At least 1+ years of logistics experience.
• Experience in the solar industry is advantageous.
• Conflict management skills.
• Excellent proficiency in Excel.
• Basic database management skills.
• Strong documentation and record-keeping abilities.
• Excellent interpersonal skills.
• Proficiency in English and Afrikaans.
• Understanding of FIFO and LIFO inventory principles.
• Preferably, experience in solar, electrical, or construction sectors.
• Experience in warehousing and supply chain management, including handling purchase orders.
