Job Description

AltGen South Africa is hiring a Junior Procurement & Logistic Officer in Stellenbosch. The role involves procuring components and services for solar PV projects, managing logistics, and maintaining supplier relationships. Key responsibilities include requesting quotes, scheduling deliveries, and administrative tasks. Candidates should have over a year of logistics experience, preferably in the solar industry, with strong negotiation and organizational skills. The position is a contractor role.
Role

Procurement of components, services and logistic arrangements for predominantly solar PV grid connected power plants. This is a key position in the EPC values chain and requires a highly organised and reliable member of staff.

Responsibilities
• Requesting quotations for materials during bidding phase; including delivery timeframe and payment terms
• Procurement of materials for renewable energy plants
• Arrange plant hire for site works
• Planning and scheduling of shipping of materials and plant hire to site
• Arrange for storage (containers, warehousing) and delivery to site
• Collaborate on project management tool(s) ensuring up to date scheduling and status of deliveries
• Obtain best prices for materials through soliciting a minimum of three quotes
• Issue procurement orders with full details on materials, pricing , delivery details , Terms and Conditions with the assistance from the Project Team
• Follow-up on delivery in regular intervals (the P&L team needs to know at all times what the status of the shipment is)
• Maintain and explain the supplier database
• Negotiate Payment Terms and Conditions
• Additional responsibilities: Administrative tasks, Make travel arrangements

Experience and Core Competencies
• 1+ years of logistics experience
• Experience in Solar Industry is beneficial
• Negotiation skills
• Conflict Management
• Good numeracy skills
• Excelent command of Excel
• Strong IT skill - MS Office
• Basic database management
• Documentation and record keeping skills
• Technical understanding
• Excellent interpersonal skills
• Proficiency in English and Afrikaans
• Must understand FIFO and LIFO
• Solar/Electrical/Construction experience preferable
• Warehousing and supply chain experience is required, including handling purchase orders
