The State of Vermont is hiring a Junior Level Public Health Project Manager to support the Vermont Department of Health. This hybrid role involves project management using Agile methodologies, collaborating with public health professionals and vendors. Candidates should have experience as a Scrum Master or Project Coordinator. The position is primarily based in Waterbury, VT, with onsite work required, and involves managing projects related to public health initiatives.
Overview

We have an exciting opportunity for someone looking to grow their project management skills and experience on projects managed via hybrid Agile approach to do work that matters. Individuals with experience in the public health sector as a Scrum Master or Project Coordinator are also encouraged to apply.

As a member of the Agency of Digital Services (ADS) Enterprise Project Management Office (EPMO) team assigned primarily to the Vermont Department of Health (VDH), you will work hand in hand with public health professionals, ADS Project Management staff, ADS developers and 3rd party vendors to implement systems critical to the work of protecting and improving the health of Vermonters.

You will be part of a team that supports the many domains of public health - from environmental health to disease prevention, health promotion, epidemiology, and vital statistics. This includes addressing a diverse range of business needs from monitoring drinking water quality to assuring children receive appropriate childhood screenings, or that high quality, secure data is available to those engaged in efforts such as responding to the Covid-19 pandemic or prevention and treatment of substance use disorders.

This work will typically occur in the context of projects managed using a hybrid Agile Scrum approach. As a member of a team, you will grow your skills while supporting the business partner to achieve success in meeting their technology needs. Serving in a partnership role you will be part of the team that is facilitating vision, release, and iteration planning as well as leading daily scrums and working to address barriers to progress of the team.

This position is based at the Waterbury State Office Complex in Waterbury Vermont. This is a hybrid position, and you'll be expected to be available for onsite work as needed in Waterbury VT.

Environmental Factors

Work is performed in a standard office setting, but some travel may be required for which private means of transportation should be available. Work outside of regular business hours may be expected.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in business administration, Public Administration, Information Technology or a related field OR Certification as a Project Manager Professional (PMP) and two (2) years or more of experience in the field of information technology where the primary role was project manager.

OR

Four (4) years or more of experience in the field of information technology where the primary role was project manager.
