About the position

Idaho National Laboratory is seeking a Junior Environmental Regulatory Compliance Professional to join our Environmental Support & Services department. This role is essential in supporting our facilities, operations, and research and development programs by identifying and implementing environmental requirements to ensure compliance with applicable regulations. The position operates on a 4x10 schedule, allowing for every Friday off, and is based out of our MFC facility. In this role, you will be responsible for ensuring compliance with various environmental regulations, including DOE Orders, Federal and State regulations, and standards such as ANSI, ISO 14001, and NESHAP. You will develop and implement environmental procedures, which may involve creating complex regulatory interpretations and resolving compliance issues in collaboration with legal representatives. Additionally, you will be tasked with gathering and reporting data required by regulations, as well as developing necessary permits. You will gain expertise in existing regulations relevant to your technical area and actively monitor for changes in federal, state, and local environmental regulations, including RCRA, CERCLA, NEPA, EPCRA, CAA, CWA, NHPA, SDWA, TSCA, and radioactive waste management. Your role will also involve presenting to and partnering with Federal and State regulators and ISO-14001 auditors during environmental inspections, addressing any identified concerns or non-compliances. Furthermore, you will assess environmental risks and develop risk-mitigation strategies, monitor the implementation of environmental requirements, and help develop plans to achieve annual goals aligned with INL's mission. This position may also involve oversight of laboratory environmental requirements and supporting customers by preparing or reviewing NEPA documentation.

Responsibilities
• Identify environmental and associated radiological requirements to ensure compliance with DOE Orders, Federal and State regulations, and various standards.

• Develop and implement environmental procedures to ensure compliance with INL work scope.
,
• Create complex regulatory interpretations and resolve compliance issues with legal representatives.
,
• Gather data, calculate, and coordinate with site contractors for site-wide reporting to stakeholders and regulatory authorities.
,
• Monitor and evaluate implementation of environmental requirements using assessments and surveillance.
,
• Present to and partner with Federal and State regulators and ISO-14001 auditors for environmental inspections.
,
• Assess environmental risk and develop required risk-mitigation strategies.
,
• Help develop short and long-term plans to achieve annual goals and work standards focused on INL's mission.

• Support customers by preparing or reviewing National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) documentation.

Requirements
• Bachelor of Science degree in a science or engineering field (Level 1).
,
• Bachelor of Science degree in a science or engineering field and 2 years of relevant experience or a Master's degree with 0 years of experience (Level 2).
,
• Ability to obtain and maintain a Department of Energy 'L' clearance, which requires US Citizenship.
