Job Description
Climate Risk Services is seeking a Junior Climate Data Scientist in Utrecht, Netherlands, to contribute to climate-informed decision-making. The role involves developing methodologies and hazard models related to physical climate risks and geospatial data. Candidates should have 1-2 years of experience and a passion for applied climate science. The company values integrity, collaboration, and impact-driven work in a dynamic startup environment.
About Us
Are you impact-driven and passionate about solving the climate crisis? At Climate Risk Services, we’re on a mission to bridge the gap between climate science and financial decision-making. We are a fast growing climate finance advisory and analytics company, working with clients across industries to assess, manage, and adapt to climate and nature-related risks.
By combining applied climate hazard modelling, enterprise software, and strategic advisory, we enable businesses, investors, and financial institutions to navigate the fast-evolving world of climate regulation, physical risk, and resilience planning.
Our work lives at the intersection of applied science, data, software, and strategy — transforming complexity into clarity, and delivering insights that are both scientifically robust and practically actionable. We believe in doing good science that makes a real-world impact. While we are commercially driven, we are equally committed to scientific integrity, transparency, and open collaboration.
You’ll be joining a purpose-led, interdisciplinary team focused on turning climate science into decisions that matter. We work hard, support each other, and care deeply about the quality, usability, and impact of what we build
About the Role
We are looking for a Junior Climate Data Scientist / Physical Hazard Modeller to join our Utrecht-based team (someone with 1-2 years experience in the field already)
This is an exciting opportunity for someone with a strong foundation in physical climate risk or geospatial data to play a vital role in developing cutting-edge methodologies and hazard models that power our products and client advisory. Whether you’re post-processing global climate model datasets, analysing the risk of future heatwaves, or helping a company understand their flood exposure - your work will directly contribute to climate-informed decision-making at scale.
You’ll thrive here if you're a self-starter who enjoys learning, values applied climate science, integrity, and wants to grow within a dynamic and mission-driven startup environment.
