Job Introduction

BBC Radio Sheffield is looking for a Journalism Coordinator (JC) to work on the daytime programme. This is a great opportunity to join a talented and ambitious team.

Main Responsibilities

The successful candidate will be working alongside producers and presenter-producers to help deliver great content for live radio broadcasts – from the planning stage to the microphone going live - and also support the station’s digital output, including social media and BBC Sounds.

This is a busy role and you’ll need to be calm under pressure and be able to juggle different priorities and deadlines – from technical responsibilities and answering listeners’ calls to helping to generate ideas for guests and talking points for programmes. You’ll undertake background research and prepare information for presenters. Sometimes you might even be asked to read information or contribute in another way on-air. You’ll also help to make audio really shine – whether that’s editing pre-recorded material or helping to make a live radio programme run smoothly.

We’re looking for someone who gets a buzz from being involved in live radio, as well as connecting with audiences on digital platforms. You’ll also have a passion for “local” and for helping to turn news and discussions for South Yorkshire and North Derbyshire into innovative and imaginative content, and you’ll have an eye (and an ear) for detail.

Whatever you’re working on, you’ll have a collaborative approach and be comfortable communicating and sharing your work across programme teams, plus teams across the region and the wider network.
