Introduction
Waste Warriors is a non-profit organization catalyzing systemic change to solve the waste management crisis of the Indian Himalayan Region. Our work lies at the intersection of Climate Change, Biodiversity Habitat Conservation, and livelihood generation. With a team of 170+ Warriors spread across various locations nestled in the beautiful landscapes of Uttarakhand and Himachal Pradesh, we strive to enable access to effective waste management services in urban and rural areas, with a special focus on eco-sensitive and tourist areas. We focus on enabling better governance, addressing infrastructure and policy gaps, and activating communities to co-create solutions. By promoting local entrepreneurship, we aim to ignite agency in local communities to earn their identity through dignified livelihoods.

Overview of the Role
We are looking for an HR leader with a long-term commitment who has led HR functions at a Department or Organisation level in medium-sized organizations of similar nature and has had the opportunity and experience to work with a wide spectrum of employees from all strata of society. As the Head of Human Resources, the individual will be a source of inspiration and guidance for all aspects of HR at Waste Warriors across all our locations.

Job Requirement
Roles and Responsibilities:
Establish and implement HR practices that effectively communicate and support Waste Warriors’ mission and strategic vision.
Drive multiple HR project initiatives, resourcing plans including HR budgets and driving project delivery to ensure the Organization’s strategic goals and objectives are met.
Build a culture and supporting systems where the safety, security, health, personal growth, and dignity of all employees are considered as a key element within the organization and given due significance.
Create and intentionally curate an environment that fosters the development of the Warrior Spirit across the organization. To do this, the candidate must be willing to inculcate and embody the Warrior Spirit as an inspiring example for others to follow.
Responsible for implementing all necessary best practices that will make Waste Warriors to be recognized as the ‘best organization to work with’ in the Social Sector.
Responsible for employee engagement across the Organization; design and execute employee engagement plan for various functions
Ensure compliance with all statutory requirements & documentation under the ambit of Human Resources with the support of an HR Auditor.
Establish a proper and fair process for handling any and all grievances with the necessary level of confidentiality and integrity so as to build confidence within the organization.
Establish and implement a successful Learning and Development program that provides all employees with the opportunity to enhance their skills and broaden their knowledge and experience in the Waste Management and Social sector.
Develop and implement a robust Reward and Recognition program that fosters and recognizes the efforts of employees.
Establish and implement processes and systems that enable a robust talent acquisition and retention strategy for the organization.
Design and implement a robust internal communications strategy along with an induction plan in partnership with the Leadership team and the communications team.
Develop and implement processes to identify, build and internalize the right portfolio of policies required for the organization and its changing needs.
Establish and implement effective Performance Management Systems that encourage collective performance and enhancement of individual capabilities.
Building HR SOPs collaboratively with all concerned teams and ensuring they are followed meticulously.
Integrate technology wherever needed to increase efficiency and strengthen collaboration.
Be willing to travel extensively to different project locations, build strong relationships with all teams within the organization, and be proactive in identifying challenges and mitigating risks before they escalate.
Required Qualifications, Skills, and Abilities
8+ years of work experience with at least 2 years in a leadership position in a value-driven organization.
Technical & functional HR expertise across the entire spectrum of HR disciplines.
Excellent problem-solving, conflict management, and strategic thinking skills.
People-person with high emotional intelligence and empathy.
Good listener and observer with a keen interest in organizational development.
Passionate about developing individuals and the team’s capacity and inculcating the Warrior spirit within the organization
Whatever-it-takes approach to get things done, in a timely manner, within limited budgets.
Ability to think creatively, willing to take risks to experiment with new ideas, and the ability to turn ideas into action.
Excellent communication skills (ability to communicate complex ideas in a meaningful way and across different audiences).
Ability to build and maintain positive and collaborative relationships both within and outside the organization.
Strong planning and organizational skills and an ability to be able to set priorities, plan and meet deadlines.
