About the Organization
The Wildlife Institute of India (WII) is an autonomous natural resource service institution established in 1982 under the Ministry of Environment Forest and Climate change, Government of India.[1] WII carries out wildlife research in areas of study like Biodiversity, Endangered Species, Wildlife Policy, Wildlife Management, Wildlife Forensics, Spatial Modeling, Ecodevelopment, Ecotoxicology, Habitat Ecology and Climate Change. WII has a research facility which includes Forensics, Remote Sensing and GIS, Laboratory, Herbarium, and an Electronic Library.
Job Description
Project: Understanding elephant conflict issues for suggesting conflict reduction measures (Chhattisgarh, Jharkhand, Assam)
Lead the team in collection of conflict data from the states of Chhattisgarh, Jharkhand, and Assam, and conduct statistical and geospatial analysis of data collected and produce high quality scientific reports/ publications. Candidate should be conversant with softwares like R/ Python/ GIS/ Google Earth Engine.
Education Qualification/Required Skills & Experience
Essential Qualification:
Masters’s Degree in Wildlife Science/ Botany/ Zoology/ Forestry/ Life Science/ Environmental Sciences with a minimum of 60% aggregate marks from a recognized University.
AND
8 years experience after master’s degree with publications in peer-reviewed journals in relevant field.
OR
Doctoral Degree in Wildlife Science/ Botany/ Zoology/ Forestry/ Life Science/ Environmental Sciences from a recognized University.
Desired Qualifications:
Demonstrated experience/ aptitude in a) spatial analysis and ecological modelling, b) statistical analysis, c) project design and coordination of multi-disciplinary project team and field data collection c) research publications in peer-reviewed national/ international journals.
Salary
Rs. 49,000 + HRA
