Job Summary

This is a leadership position responsible for providing strategic policy planning and growth management initiatives in the City of Hamilton. The Manager will lead a multi-functional workforce engaged in Municipal Comprehensive Review, Official Plan Updates, and policy planning studies.
Key Responsibilities
• Provide leadership to a team of planners and stakeholders in developing and implementing policy planning initiatives.
• Ensure that policy planning studies and initiatives conform to City and provincial government planning policy.
• Lead the development of long-range and strategic plans related to secondary/neighbourhood planning.
• Manage the review, preparation, and implementation of secondary/neighbourhood plans.
• Coordinate with other departments and community groups to achieve Sectional goals and objectives.
Requirements
• Bachelor's Degree in Urban and Regional Planning or equivalent experience.
• Extensive progressive experience as a Registered Professional Planner, with at least 8 years of experience in land use planning.
• Demonstrated record of strategic leadership, innovation/creativity, team and project management, staff delegation/development, and results-oriented empowerment.
• Excellent communication, presentation, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
• Supervisory skills, including the management of one or more full-time staff.
