Job Description

The State of Utah is hiring a part-time JJYS Technician I in Blanding, Utah, to work with delinquent youth in various settings, including secure confinement and community programs. Responsibilities include planning activities, providing supervision, and coordinating with community resources. Candidates should be motivated, willing to work rotating shifts, and able to handle physical demands. Salary ranges from $15.00 to $20.93 per hour.
JJYS Technician I - Part-time
Blanding, Utah

If you would like a position working with today's youth, then you are in the right place! A great way to start your career in Juvenile Justice is to become a Technician I. A Juvenile Justice Technician's work with delinquent adolescents in the following types of environments:
• Short- and long-term secure confinement
• Multi-use facilities
• Community-based programs
Principal Duties
• Assists in planning programs for youth, counsels youth under supervision, and provides direct care, supervision, and control of youth in secure, multi-use and related facilities
• Works under moderate supervision with delinquent adolescents in short and long term secure confinement, observation, and assessment settings, in multi-use facilities or community based programs.
• Oversees delinquent youth in group settings, individual encounters, visitations and community involvement activities.
• Schedules activities and resolves potentially dangerous situations to ensure the safety of staff, clients, and or the public.
• Writes or drafts correspondence, reports, documents and/or other written materials.
• Coordinates and refers services of community resources, placement providers, collateral agencies, the court, and/or other community partners with families, clients, or patients receiving services.
• Assists full time staff in identifying and applying appropriate security, safety, and/or control intervention techniques or devices to secure people, facilities, property, supplies or equipment
• Communicates information and ideas clearly, and concisely, in writing; read and understand information presented in writing
The Ideal Candidate
We are looking for a motivated individual who enjoys being challenged while working with troubled youth. We are looking for a candidate who is available to work rotating shifts, which include days, nights, weekends, and holidays.

Preference
May be given to candidates 19+ years of age.
May be given to candidates who have a high school diploma or GED.

• Work requires physical exertion. May require the ability to stand; walk over rough surfaces; bend, crouch, stoop, stretch, reach, lift moderately heavy items (up to 50 lbs.) in a recurring manner and/or for long periods of time.
