Job Overview

Tech Kooks is bidding on an IT Services contract for the City of Semmes, Alabama, and is seeking experienced IT professionals to be part of our proposal. If awarded, we will need IT technicians and engineers to support the City's network, hardware, cybersecurity, cloud solutions, and helpdesk operations.

This role involves maintaining the City's IT infrastructure, supporting 75 employees, managing 2 servers, 9 firewalls, and ensuring smooth operations across all departments.

Key Responsibilities

✔ Network Management & Support
• Manage and troubleshoot the City's network infrastructure, including switches, routers, and firewalls.
• Ensure system uptime, security, and performance.

✔ Helpdesk & End-User Support
• Provide 24/7 remote and on-site IT support for City employees.
• Assist with software, hardware, and connectivity issues.
• Conduct user training for various platforms.

✔ Cybersecurity & Data Protection
• Implement and manage firewall and cybersecurity protocols to safeguard City systems.
• Perform security audits, vulnerability assessments, and incident response.

✔ Hardware & Software Procurement
• Recommend, install, and configure IT hardware and software for all City departments.

✔ Cloud Solutions & Data Management
• Maintain cloud storage, backup solutions, and cloud-based software for City operations.
• Support migration and management of City data to cloud infrastructure.

✔ Disaster Recovery & Business Continuity
• Develop and maintain a disaster recovery plan with routine backups and system protection.

✔ IT Strategy & Consultation
• Provide strategic IT planning to align infrastructure with City growth and technology advancements.

Qualifications

✅ 3+ years of experience in IT support, network administration, or cybersecurity.
✅ Strong knowledge of Windows Server, Active Directory, firewalls, and network configurations.
✅ Experience with municipal IT infrastructure or government contracts is a plus.
✅ Ability to provide 24/7 support (remotely and on-site as needed).
✅ Relevant certifications (CompTIA, Microsoft, Cisco, or equivalent) preferred.

Job Types: Part-time, Contract

Pay: $25.00 - $35.00 per hour

Expected hours: 8 – 20 per week

Compensation Package:
• 1099 contract
• Hourly pay
• Weekly pay

Schedule:
• 4 hour shift
• 8 hour shift
• On call
