Job Description

Anew Climate is seeking an IT Data Engineer Intern in Houston, TX. The intern will assist in developing and maintaining data pipelines, databases, and ETL processes, while gaining hands-on experience in data engineering. Responsibilities include optimizing SQL queries, collaborating with software engineers, and supporting data quality assurance. Candidates should be pursuing a degree in a related field and have basic knowledge of databases, SQL, and programming languages like Python.
General Summary: As an IT Data Engineer Intern, you'll contribute to the development and maintenance of our data pipelines and infrastructure. You'll work alongside experienced data engineers, gaining hands-on experience with data extraction, transformation, and loading (ETL) processes, data warehousing, and related technologies. This internship offers a valuable opportunity to learn and apply data engineering principles in a real-world setting.

Primary Responsibilities and Competencies:
• Build and Maintain Databases and Data Warehouses
• Assist in the design, development, and maintenance of data pipelines.
• Help with data extraction, transformation, and loading (ETL) processes.
• Support the maintenance of data warehouses and data lakes.
• Write and optimize SQL queries for data retrieval and manipulation.
• Assist in monitoring and troubleshooting data pipelines and infrastructure.
• Contribute to data quality assurance and data validation processes.
• Document data engineering processes and procedures.
• Collaborate with Software Engineers and analysts to support their data needs.
• Learn and apply best practices for data storage, processing, and security.
• Assist in the implementation of cloud-based data solutions (Azure).

Required Education, Experience and Certification:
• Currently pursuing a degree in Computer Science, Data Science or Information Systems, or a related field
• Basic understanding of database concepts and SQL
• Familiarity with programming languages such as Python
• Basic knowledge of data warehousing and ETL processes
• Experience with cloud computing platforms ( Azure).
• Knowledge of big data technologies (e.g., Hadoop, Spark).
• Experience with data visualization tools (e.g., PowerBi)
• Familiarity with scripting languages.
• Experience with data pipeline tools.
