McFarlin Stanford is hiring a Landscape Irrigation Technician in Watsonville, CA. Position Overview:

A Landscape Irrigation Technician is responsible for the installation, maintenance, and repair of irrigation systems within a landscape or agricultural setting. The technician ensures that plants, lawns, and green spaces receive adequate water supply while minimizing water waste. This role requires technical expertise, attention to detail, problem-solving skills, and the ability to work both independently and as part of a team.

Key Responsibilities:

Installation and Setup:
Install new irrigation systems based on design plans and specifications.
Lay out and connect pipes, valves, controllers, and sprinkler heads.
Install drip systems, soaker hoses, and other water-efficient irrigation methods.

Maintenance and Repairs:
Regularly inspect and maintain existing irrigation systems to ensure proper functioning.
Identify and troubleshoot issues such as leaks, clogs, and broken components.
Repair or replace damaged components, including pipes, valves, sprinklers, and controllers.
Adjust system settings and schedules as needed to adapt to changing weather conditions and plant requirements.

Programming and Control:
Program and configure irrigation controllers based on plant water needs and local regulations.
Set irrigation schedules, durations, and intervals to optimize water efficiency.
Monitor weather forecasts and adjust irrigation plans accordingly.

Water Conservation:
Implement water-saving techniques, such as using rain sensors and smart controllers.
Recommend and implement water-efficient irrigation methods to minimize water waste.
Educate clients and team members about water conservation practices.

Documentation:
Maintain accurate records of all irrigation installations, repairs, and maintenance activities.
Document system specifications, component inventory, and any modifications made.

Communication:
Communicate effectively with clients, landscape designers, and team members to coordinate irrigation projects and address concerns.
Provide guidance to clients on proper water management and irrigation system usage.

Safety and Compliance:
Adhere to safety protocols and regulations when working with irrigation systems and tools.
Follow local water usage regulations and restrictions.

Equipment and Inventory:
Keep track of inventory levels for irrigation components and tools.
Assist in procuring necessary supplies and equipment for projects.

Qualifications and Skills:
• High school diploma or equivalent; relevant certifications or courses in irrigation systems are a plus.
• Minimum 1 year previous experience in irrigation system installation, maintenance, and repair.
• Knowledge of various irrigation methods and tools.
• Familiarity with irrigation controllers and programming.
• Basic understanding of plant water requirements and soil types.
• Strong problem-solving skills to diagnose and resolve irrigation issues.
• Ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions.
• Excellent communication skills to interact with clients and team members.
• Physical ability to lift and carry equipment, bend, and work in confined spaces.
