Job Description
The Illinois Power Agency is offering a one-year paid Post-Graduate Fellowship for recent graduates interested in clean energy and environmental planning. Fellows will engage in research, report preparation, and develop solutions to support clean energy initiatives. A Master's degree in relevant fields is required. The position includes full state benefits and a hybrid work schedule with some in-office days in Chicago.
About the position
The Illinois Power Agency (IPA) is offering a one-year paid Post-Graduate Fellowship Program aimed at recent graduates or early-career professionals interested in clean energy, environmental planning, and energy markets. This fellowship provides an opportunity to contribute to the advancement of clean energy initiatives and the development of electricity markets in Illinois. Fellows will engage in various projects, including research, report preparation, and the development of innovative solutions to support the IPA's mission of promoting a clean, reliable, and equitable energy future.
Responsibilities
• Produce energy-related white papers, memos, and presentations.

• Prepare reports and stakeholder correspondence.
,
• Conduct quantitative and/or qualitative research on focused topics to support specific IPA clean energy initiatives.

• Develop a Capstone Project on a clean energy and/or wholesale energy market topic of mutual interest of the Fellow and the IPA.
Requirements
• Master's degree from an accredited college or university in public policy, environmental science/policy/studies, economics, finance, energy, law, sustainability, or a related field within the last three years.

• Demonstrated ability to conduct detailed research.
,
• Excellent critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
,
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
,
• Attention to detail and strong organizational skills.
,
• Ability to work independently and carry out assignments, make independent judgments and/or decisions, and discern when action at a higher level is required.
,
• Ability to effectively manage multiple projects and maintain an organized and well-communicated workflow.
,
• Ability to adapt to shifting priorities and deadlines.
Nice-to-haves
• Experience in energy-focused policy issues, energy efficiency, or related strategic fields with a focus on renewable energy.
