Janney Montgomery Scott LLC is seeking an Investment Banking Associate in Boston, MA. TM Capital, a division of Janney Montgomery Scott, is seeking a Senior Analyst or Associate to join their Investment Banking team. The Senior Analyst/Associate candidate will be someone who has demonstrated professional, academic and extracurricular achievement. They must be highly motivated, articulate individual possessing strong client relationship, analytical, writing and technical skills.
Sr. Analysts/Associates are integral players in our small transaction teams who work together to complete M&A transactions ranging from $50 to $500 million in value. They are responsible for developing a comprehensive understanding of our clients, creating and analyzing financial models, drafting information memoranda, conducting extensive industry and buyer research – both financial and strategic – on a global basis, developing management and investor presentations and participating in the deal process from start to finish. The ideal candidate must be entrepreneurial and team oriented. A strong work ethic and a great attitude are also critical.
Responsibilities:
• Assist Managing Directors in managing client relationship and executing client engagements from start to finish
• Draft marketing collateral for sell-side advisory and financing assignments
• Prepare and analyze financial models and analyses across a wide range of industries
• Identify, evaluate and contact potential targets or strategic/financial acquirers
• Organize and coordinate due diligence sessions with transaction counterparties
• Identify and cultivate new business relationships and expanding the TM franchise in specific vertical markets
• Prepare and deliver presentations for client engagements and in the solicitation of new business
• Write research reports on select vertical markets and sub-sectors
• Mentor and train junior professionals
Experience and Skills:
• Bachelor’s Degree
• A minimum of 2-3 years of prior experience in investment banking or M&A related fields (i.e. corporate development, accounting or transaction advisory services) History of outstanding academic and extracurricular achievement preferred.
• Understanding of financial statements and valuation experience.
• Exceptional research, analytical and quantitative reasoning skills.
• Self-starter with a high level of initiative and motivation.
• Ability to work in a self-directed manner in a project or deadline-driven environment.
• Superior interpersonal skills with the ability to establish and maintain relationships at all organizational levels.
• Ability to collaborate effectively and be a contributing member of the team.
• Demonstrate a strong desire to learn and quickly grasp concepts and information to apply to work assignments.
• Ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects and initiatives while maintaining a strong sense of urgency.
• Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
• Demonstrated leadership and/or participation in extracurricular activities.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
• Ability to work beyond a full time (37.5 hours/week) work schedule.
The compensation package for this position consists of a base salary, (with eligibility for an annual bonus/commission if applicable) as well as eligibility to participate in all company benefits offered by Janney to full-time employees including health, dental, medical coverage, disability income protection, life insurance, PTO/vacation, holidays, and 401(k). The base salary range for this position will be $105,000 -$130,000. Annual bonuses are determined by both personal performance and company performance. Total compensation packages at Janney are based on experience, skills, credentials, and geographical location, of each specific candidate.
